AndrexT missed by a mile I'm afraid. The 2620 has no battery. It requires a constant power supply.

Ptu_1 pegged it. I've had several of these all apart and no battery that I can find. Everything it remembers when turned off must be on internal flash memory.

How do I fix my Garmin Street Pilot, which has newly updated maps and a 4GB sand disk, to respond to my clicking on ADDRESSES with something more helpful than NO DATA AVAILABLE?

Chances are you have the wrong region installed. try updating again and check which region was installed. Also, I'm surprised because the Street Pilot series is no longer able to get the latest map updates. I've heard that you can sometimes get a trade in value if you call Garmin Support at 1800-800-1020

no, you should update to the newer Garmin Nuvi, much faster acquiring sats and a lot easier to type in addresses.

Garmin StreetPilot 2620 totally dead

For the problem you are experiencing it is unlikely the time and effort needed to be spent trying to repair the product will be worth it compared to purchasing a used replacement 2610 for around $60. However, if your touch screen and accessories work you may wish to sell them on a third party web site for spare parts for others. You could fetch as much as $30 depending on what you have. If you have a remote and bean bag mount those alone can catch up to $30 + shipping.

The garmin 2620 will not load maps

You are caught in a loop most likely caused by a failed microdrive. Search Garmin 2620 cornice for a thread that is likely to provide the information about the failure you are experiencing. In short, if it is the Cornice drive that has failed you will find it very difficult to repair, if not impossible depending on your level of expertise and ability to find a used part for repair as the drives needed are no longer manufactured or readily available.

HOW TO CALIBRATE GARMIN STREET PILOT 2620

I am assuming you want to calibrate the touch screen. Press MENU, click DISPLAY, Press find, press find, follow instructions on screen. You can also hold MENU and FIND at startup and a diagnostic screen will start up, pressing menu repeatedly while on this screen will give you an opportunity to calibrate the screen. If you are looking for a solution on how to do something else, please post additional information and I will do my best to assist.
