Our vaccum cleaner does not clean up.

If the floor unit is not picking up, check for a broken belt for the beater brush or for a frozen beater brush. Might be a good idea to remove the beater brush and clean it of any debris and squirt some WD40 on the two end pieces that hold the beater brush to the vacuum itself. Turn the brush by hand to be sure it is free and reassemble. Make sure the belt is properly attached so it moves the brush in the correct direction.
If you find this to be helpful, I would appreciate you providing me with a thumbs up rating. Thank you. Paul

I have no suction from the bottom

If there are no obvious air leaks, check to see that the belt that turns the beater brush is not broken and that the beater brush has not frozen up. Remove the beater brush and clean it, spraying a bit of WD40 at each end by the hard rubber pieces that hold it in place. Turn the beater brush by hand to be sure it moves freely around the rubber pieces. When you reassemble, make sure the belt is properly installed.

Beater bar not working. suction not working

Check for a broken beater brush belt. Clean the beater brush, clear of all debris and add some WD40 at each end where the rubber holders are. Turn beater brush by hand to work the WD40 into the axle. Reassemble making sure the belt is on correctly. This should also help solve the suction problem as well.

Oreck XL2200: It turns on, the motor is running, the belt is on properly, but the roller brush is not moving

Quite often this is caused by either a broken or stretched belt, does not seem to be the problem here, or a frozen beater brush, the brush the belt drives. Remove the beater brush and clean as best you can. Spray a little WD40 between the brush and the holders on each end. Twist them a bit to be sure they turn freely. Reassemble and make sure the belt is snug.
If this helps you I would greatly appreciate a rating on the FixYa web page. Regards, Paul

I have lost suction in my versitility electrolux, it has a higher pitched whinning sound, I have replaced the filters and checked all of the hosing, it is all clear

You may want to check and be sure the beater brush is operating properly and that the drive belt has not broken. The drive belt can brake when the beater brush is frozen up.
Suggest you remove the beater brush and clean as best you can. There will be two rubber pieces on either end of the beater brush. Be sure these are loose enough so you can turn them by hand. Spray a bit of WD40 between these pieces and the beater brush and turn by hand to work the WD40 in. If you have to replace the drive belt, this would now be a good time to do it.

Why doesn't my vacumm floor piece work?

Not sure which unit you have but normal repairs would be to the wiring of the floor fixture and to check to see that the beater brush is turning properly. If the brush is not turning it could be a broken belt or the fact that the beater brush is frozen. Remove the brush and clean as best you can, paying close attention to the plastic holders at each end of the beater brush. Squirt a bit of WD40 into the space between the plastic and the beater brush and rotate by hand to make sure it is free. Reassemble and put in a new belt just in case.

Turn on motor just humms

If the motor is actually running and not picking anything up, I would believe it to be either a broken drive belt for the beater brush or the beater brush is frozen or both. Remove the beater brush and clean, paying special attention to the end pieces that hold it into the vacuum. If possible spray a little WD40 on them to be sure they turn freely on the brush. Also a good idea to replace the belt, but be sure it is installed correctly in order to have the brush move in the proper direction.

My dyson has lost suction and the brushes do not rotate

Sounds like a broken belt may have been pulled up into the machine. Plan on replacing the belt and cleaning the beater brush. Remove the beater brush and clean off all debris, especially at both ends. You will find a square(?) piece at each end of the beater brush that holds it in place. This need to turn freely. Put a little WD40 on these where the center rod of the beater brush enters the small holders and turn by hand until they turn freely. Once this is done, assemble with new belt if needed, making sure the belt is put on properly.

Vacuum turns on but the brush is not rotating

Most likely a problem with the drive belt or the beater brush. Either the drive belt is broken or the beater brush is frozen due to debris. If you can not turn the beater brush by hand, it should be removed and cleaned well. The ends of the beater brush that hold it into the vacuum should be lubricated with some WD40 and moved by hand until they are free. Once the turn freely, replace the beater brush. If the drive belt is broken or missing, it needs to be replaced.

Brush not turning

ez...there may be a second belt or the bearings in the beater are gummed up. Open up the area where the beater is. There should be a belt in there...if it is broken, you'll have to replace. Before you do...turn the beater by hand...if it turns hard, the bearings are jammed up with old grease or debris. You'll have to deal with that.
