Question about Ovens

1 Answer

I have a Neff U1420 double oven and the hinges on the main oven do not close the door fully. I have read that it is possible to correct this problem by putting washers under the screw of the hinges but I am having difficulty separating the 2 halves of the door to get access to the hinges. There are 2 screws at the top of the door on the inside and 4 further screws which I assume hold the hinges in place. There is mention of 2 other screws accessible from the bottom of the door but i do not seem to have these. Any ideas as to how to access the hinges would be appreciated.

Hi.
If the door does not close properly then the fault is a faliure in the door hinge springs. Sorry but using washers will not cure the problem..

The only way is to replace the two door hinges. You may NOT need to replace the hinge backs.

If you would like to email me the full model number (numbers after U1420) then i can source the part numbers for you.

I have had both door hinges replaced on the main oven of my Neff but the door still does not close properly. What is the next step?

I would have gone straight through Neff. If it can't be fixed, your'e supposed to get a new oven out of the deal.

Heat escaping, uneven baking, longer cooking times

Either the seals need to be replaced, or you may have weak oven door hinges, and the door is not closing properly.
Only solution would be to replace both hinges if this is the case.

The door of the main oven does not close properly even though we replaced the hinges (which worked initially) only about 18months ago. It's a U1420 NOGB double oven

If ther is notjhing obstructing the door from closing poroperly, then it sounds to me like the hinges are the cause of the problem again.
Make sure there is nothing trapped at the bottrom of the door, and that the hinge/s are not loose.
If it is leaving a small gap at the top of the door, then I think your only option is to replace the hinges again, as there is no adjustment possible of the hinges.
Hope this assists you with your problem

NEFF oven U1461 - The bottom oven door hinges do not have enough strength to hold the door fully closed. Can these be adjusted and is this something I could do myself?

If the door is a drop down door, then no adjustment is possible, the only solution is to replace both door hinges.

Neff oven door (U1661)

The door is v heavy and the hinges being right at the bottom take a lot of strain, especially when the door is in 'half open' position. Once the springs start to wear the hinges are no longer strong enough to hold the top of the door firmly closed. Our U1661 is 8 years old and we've had the hinges replaced twice under extended warranty. The second time the hinges they supplied don't hold the door in this position and it will just drop straight down if you don't support it while you open it.

Main oven door will not close properly. Is there any adjustment for it.

This comment applies to most electric ovens that have drop down doors with hinges at the bottom.
The hinges are not adjustable, and in every case the problem is caused by one or both hinge springs being weak.
The only solution, is to replace both oven door hinges together.
