Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the side-cover, to view the motherboard.
The battery is on the motherboard.
It is silver-coloured, and about the size of a US $0.25 coin.
Before you remove the battery, note the engraving on the top of the battery; the replacement battery needs to be inserted & oriented with its engraving also facing up.
Gently "pry" the battery out, and take it to a computer-store, and buy a replacement.

Refere to the following DELL Support Link

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8300/sm/battery.htm

Look at the specific battery number on the battery case.

They are readily available on eBay or from most PC dealers or electrical discount stores..

This message is likely referring to the battery used to hold your BIOS settings.

If you open your computer case, you should see a coin-shaped battery on the mother board. This is the system battery.

See this link for more detailed instructions.

Remember to clear your error log in the BIOS after changing the battery! Sometimes the alert still comes up even with a replacement battery in place.

My dell demension E521 is giving me a "alert system battery low" message. Any suggestions?

Check the batteries voltage and check to see if the battery is being supplied charge voltage when the computer is off. If both these are good then your low battery message is in error. No charge voltage would mean faulty charger and low battery voltage would mean faulty battery.

Where is the cmos jumper located on the motherboard of a Dell Dimension 8300?

Hi,
If you can't locate the CMOS jumper another way of resetting your BIOS settings and/or passwords will be to remove the system battery for a few minutes, then replace it.
Best wishes,

Dimension 8300 boots up to a black screen that says "Alert! Storage battery voltage low" Press f1 to continue, f2 to enter set up etc If I press f2 I can use the keyboard to scroll through...

i think storage battery low indicates that the cmos battery is losing its ability to reatin a charge. try replacing it. if that doesn't solve your problem, you have deeper issues. consult a professional if this is the case.

When my PC is booting up it displays a warning about 'low voltage'. It is a Dell home computer that is several years old but has been excellent. Do I have to replace something electrical?

Hi! If you are using a surge protector, try to plug the machine directly to the wall then check if you will get the same error message. If yes then try to check if the cmos battery is securely placed on the motherboard, if yes then try to reseat the cmos battery. If all things fails try to call dell support and ask for a cmos battery replacement if your system is in warranty then they will replace it.Hope this helps...
