There isabout 2 inches of water left in the bottom of the dishwasher after i run a cycle , and some food bits left in the water how do i drain the waterand remove the food bits? A manual was never left...

The filter is probably blocked.
It is inside the base of the machine.
Take out the filter and clean it and also clean out the filter well as that can also hold quite a bit of debris.

Hi, I have an ASKO D3250 dishwasher and it keeps stopping during the wash cycle and flashing the heavy pots and pots symbol simultaneously. I tried cleaning the filter basket and found a little plastic...

The part is a cap for the drain pump. You can put it back into position by removing the filters and placing it to the left of where the circular filter would be positioned. The part goes in with the part numbers on the bottom facing down. When positioned it should not interfere with the threads for the circular filter. You may have to scoop out the water in the bottom, to have a better look at how it is positioned. It is always normal to have a little bit of water in the bottom filter area (below the silver screen filter).

Possible obstruction in drain area

Hello,
The spray arm will just pull up with a bit of resistance then turn retainer anti-clocwise and pull out filter then check for debris and clean all fine mesh filter screens. But it may be that the debris has got into the pump and caused damage.

Hope this helps.

Dishes on top rack do not come out clean. Bottom rack O.K.

Have you tried cleaning the filter? We had a similar problem. The repair man came and removed all the spinners and the other stuff at the bottom above the motor to get to the filter. It was blocked with all kinds of old food bits and pieces, the odd bit of plastic film etc. He cleaned it, replaced it and we havn't had a problem since but he said it needs to be done about every two years. It can be done by someone who has reasonable DYI skills.

Where is the filter on a Kenmore Quiet Guard 2 dishwasher?

I have a Quiet Guard 4. Same problem so will describe my solution.
1. Remove bottom basket. Remove top basket.
2. Remove bottom washing arm. Unscrew (Gently but firmly) the centre post. Lift arm assembly up and out.
3. Remove overhead conduit. One screw at back, one at top (Philips #2 bit). Rotate whole assembly 45 deg right (Clockwise) and lift off of centre post.
4. Remove centre post (Pull straight up). Remove 4 screws (Star T-20 bit). Lift whole assembly out. Pop off screen and clean.
5. Remove cap over cutter/chopper. There is a single screw at front left (under assembly removed in 4). Remove screw (Star T-15 bit) and cap (Needs some wiggling to free it up). Remove cutter and filter. It is on a spring loaded pin. Pull the cutter blade foreward and then the filter disc straight up. Clean thoroughly as it may be the cause of your problems.
Reassimble. Good luck!

Lower arm and filter assem kenmore 587.16152400

The filter needs to go back on first, then the arm has notches so that it'll tight down, you need to rotate the arm till it falls in place, then the white handle is used (Goes around base of arm) to tighten it into place.

Not cleaning properly

It sounds like the dishwasher is not completely draining... this leaves particulates floating in the water and is redispersed during the next cycle.

If it were me, I'd consider taking apart the bottom rotating sprayer and the plastics that cover the draining impeller (or pump). My guess is that contains a large amount of debris which should be cleaned out. If that isn't the case, check the pump itself. Something might be in there preventing it from working, or may have damaged it in a previous cycle (ie: chicken bone). Any screens or traps should be completely clean. If you use powdered detergent, there might be a buildup of solidified detergent preventing things from working properly and will need to be cleaned. If you use powdered detergent, consider switching to liquid as it tends not to solidify.

Let me know how it goes. Please rate accordingly.

Another inlet / drain light cycle interruption problem!

When the water stops too soon, it could be the "over flow" is stuck in the downward position, therefore the dishwasher thinks it's going to over flow. Check that out. Otherwise I'm afraid this sounds like the circuit board is shot.
