Yea I find that happens with me also. I think it boils down to the battery. One thing I noticed with this camera is that the battery life is not long, it uses alot of power. But also, if the camera is inactive for a certain time, it will switch off - and I think that is one of them "power-saves".

Anyways hope this helps!

How do I change the date on my ViviCam 5385 digital camera?

Assuming the camera is working, with the camera off, rotate the mode dial so that the icon with the wrench lines up as the active mode. Then press the Power button and turn on the camera. Press the right arrow to select Custom Menu. Then press the down arrow to select Date and Time. Then press the OK button. Use the left and right arrows to select a part of the date to change and use the up arrow to increase the value and slide the zoom lever to down button to decrease the value.Press the OK button when the date and time (24 hour clock) is properly set.

The manual for the 5385 is available at retrevo: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Vivitar-5385-Digital-Cameras-manual/id/200bh836/t/2/ . You'll need to enter a code to access the PDF.

I hope this helps.

My vivitar vivicam 8025 has been charging for a while and it wont turn on with out the charger . when connected to the charger and turned on it says MSDC on a blue screen.

Make sure the battery is in the camara correctly. I had the problem with the blue screen and MSDC showing and it would not hold a charge. the battery has to be in correctly. It will go in wrong and look right so match up the silver three marks on the battery to the three marks inside the camara where the battery goes. It worked after i did that. Hope this helps!!!

How do you set the date on the Vivitar Vivicam X014?

1. Turn on the camera
2. Press the SET button (lower right).
3. Press the "trashcan" button ( to the right of the SET button) to scroll through the setup menu, 15 times, to get to the calendar icon.
4. Press the "ViviLink" button (below the SET button) to scroll down to "date setup."
5. Use the buttons surrounding the SET button (Scene, Trashcan, Flash, and ViviLink) as left, right,, up, and down arrows. Use up and down to change the month, then right to get to the date and up/down to change it, then right again to get to the year and up/down to change it, and so on through hour, minute, second, and AM/PM. Once the clock is set, press MODE to accept the settings.
6. You can scroll up and change whether you want the camera to timestamp the pictures - I turn this off.
7. Press mode again to exit the setup.

How do I turn off the date option?

Go to the Capture Menu. In the Capture menu, you can determine the conditions you would like to choose such as Size, Quality, Scene, EV, White Balance, ISO, Color, Saturation, Sharpness and Date Imprint. Press the MENU button and then scroll through the options. Choose "Date Imprint" option and then change it to OFF so that the Date will not be showed on the captured image. If you want the manual just download it from this site "http://www.retrevo.com/support/Vivitar-5100-Digital-Cameras-manual/id/200bh832/t/2/". Hope it helps.

Vivicam 8400

I have a ViviCam 8400 and have the same problem UNLESS I buy Duracell Power Pix or Energizer Titanium batteries. These cost more than the regular grade AA batteries, but when I used brand new regular batteries, the camera would turn on for 2 seconds then turn right off. Titanium or Power Pix batteries make the camera work fine. And, because they are made for digital media, they do allow you to use the camera for longer periods of time.

Time and date

There is a small 3volt battery soldered on the main board that needs to be replaced. It has a yellow band around it, unless you can replace it yourself it's not worthwhile. If you decide to replace it beware of the flash capacitor charge.
