Question about Bissell 1699 ProHeat Clear View Upright Steam Vacuum

2 Answers

Wheels won't engage

On my bissell proheat, when I push the pedal down to release the upright handle so I can start to vacuum, it will roll backwards, but not forwards on the carpet. On the bare floor, it rolls just fine forward and back. This is tested with the power button OFF. I have also located a piece of plastic that apparently broke off from the right side (when looking at it from the overview). Is the broken plastic the problem, or is it something else? If it is the broken plastic, how do I replace.

1 When I push the gray lever to let the handle go down, it will not let the handle go down. What is wrong with the handle?
2 The machine will not suck up vary well when I use the hose to vacumn.

Sounds like the outer window noozle isn't seated with the inner window. Take out the two screws, one on each side, remove the window, inspect the other half moon window to make sure it is ok, then reinstall the outer window(don't forget the gasket that sits on top of this window)Try to see if you still have a problem.

Bissell Power Steamer Pro Deluxe will not move forward

tip unit back to lift brushes off floor and roll forward until over carpet edge. tip back unit to sit flush on carpet and unlock handle so it swings freely. now pull backwards ith finger on spray trigger. that's how it works, not by pushing forwad.

How do you get the water tank out to fill on the bissell pro-heat

release the handle until it sits all the way flat. At the top of the water tank there is a folded down gray handle, lift that up and then pull up on the handle and it should come straight up. Then you need to push that gray handle all the way forward so that the lid will pull up, and you then pour the clean water into the small round opening in the top of the open tank.

My ProHeat 2x bucks and catches when I try to push it forward-help!

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Bissell 9500 ProHeat 2X Clean Shot Upright
The Bissell is not designed to be like a vacuum – it is designed to clean on the pull back, you dispense the Bissell cleaning fluid, the brushes scrub the carpet and the suction will vacuum up the excess water, the push forward will do the reverse action. You may want to refer to your owner’s manual and check out the trouble shooting guide for no water coming out. You may want to contact the factory or manufacturer to see if they have service tech support or to send out a new owner’s manual for your current model #. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
