Yes it can work... but will litle slow..
Yes, the 320gb HDD will work.
Silly me, what I meant to ask was what OS you were running. I'm assuming anywhere from XP SP3 to Vista?
Either way, the 320gb will work.
I recommend updating your Windows XP operating system to Service Pack 3, available for download on the Microsoft website.
What the tech meant was that Windows XP can only support up to 160gb. You can partition the hdd so that you have XP installed on one half of the disk and use the other half for storage. The motherboard will support the hard drive, you just need to partition it to be able to use it for Windows XP.
If XP is already running smoothly, then you should leave it as is.
If it is having trouble reading the partition, then go ahead and partition the drive again to make it how you have it planned.

WinXP SP2.. I also emailed the Acer support here in our country and this is what I got:
"Good day.
Total capacity of hard drive that Aspire 3620 series can accommodate is 120 GB but the hard drive that you have installed is too much exceeding to the limit that this model can access that can be the possible reason on hang up and other irregularity that you were encountering.
Thank you very much!

My brother at home (using the laptop now) said that it was already SP3.. we also partitioned the 320gig drive..
C: (150gig)
D: (150gig)
..respectively.
Should we partition the C: to make it a bit smaller?
C: 80gig (WinXP-SP3)
D: 70gig
E: 150gig
??

First of all, what kind of interface connector is it? Is it IDE or SATA?
IDE would be the 40-pin connector, and SATA would be an odd-looking slot, just in case you were wondering.
