It sounds like maybe the screen got a crack, fracture in it. It is LCD and it 'looking like ink' kind of points in that direction. It will have to be replaced. If you are up to the task, many replacement screens are available on the internet. I would try eBay first, that is where I got my last one. But unless you are totally comfortable with opening up you m515, take to a service tech.
