Intermittent Power Down and Backup

TV is 14 years old and today I experienced the first problem ever with this set. TV was on and image and color quality were good. Then all of a sudden the TV shut off for a second or two and then came back on. When the image came back on the colors still looked right but I now have some colored streaks that seem to bleed vertically to the right from objects in the image. Hopefully this is an easy and cheap fix. Had this baby for 14 years and never a problem. Sure would be sad to see the old dog go.

Update on this problem and error correction.

About 30 minutes after the problem reported above occurred, the horizontal lines went away. I know I reported vertical lines above but they are horizontal not vertical. Then about 30 minutes after that, the TV shut off again and came back on with the lines again. It seems to alternate through this cycle over and over.

My Sony Bravia KDL 40WL 135 TV has been flashing strange colors for awhile; today screen is black with a thin blue line across the bottom. No sound. Any help appreciated.

The vertical output section circuit has the fault. Contact any experienced service technician. This is not a user repairable fault.

JVC AV-56WP74 Colors quit working or went out of balance.

Guns or CRT are probably ok. Your TV needs a convergence IC STK392-120 replacement. Lamp are used on LCD and DLP rear projection TV's. Color wheel are for DLP's. :)

This TV uses a lamp and color wheel. the color wheel is likely the problem since it is known to make noise over time and will eventually sieze. The repair is in the $400 range.

Two lines appearing and moving up and down on my Pana 14"color tv

Hello, This is called 60cycle hum and it is caused by the 60Hz signal of the power supply "leaking" into the video circuitry. It is caused by a faulty filter capacitor. and can be seen by using an oscilloscope. I would suggest that you take the TV to a qualified TV technician for servicing, because this type of repair is not for the do it yourself person. I hope this helps, Thank you, Shuttle83 http://www.electron-age-technologies-llc.com

Red ghosting on images that are not closeup

1. Power off -- let bulb cool.
2. Display - 5 - VOL+ - Power (in quick sequence) to display service menu.
3. Go into the user menu and set auto revision back to auto.
4. Put an image on the screen that shows the problem. I always found the edges of a 4:3 aspect ratio signal displayed the ghosting very well on my set.
5. Use 2 to scroll through the categories to find D GM TG
6. Use 1 to scroll through items in D GM TG to find V POS D
7. Write down current value.
9. Use 3 and 6 to change the value to minimize the ghosting. You should only need to move it up or down a value or two.
10. Press Mute - Enter to save the changes.
11. Power off and let the bulb cool.
