Just replaced the glass on an HP C4150. When I use the copy feature all it prints is verticle black lines. Must be somethihng with the scan head as otherwise the printer prints okay.

Look for debris on the scan head face--all it takes is one tiny speck to create one line down the paper. Make sure the connector for the head is plugged in securely on both ends.

Change first black color print head cartridge just open cover then replace black print head cartridge.close cover wait for ink cartridge reinitialize if ready print test again.if same print having black line all copy needs to replace also black ink cartridge.
lift up the feeder on top of machine where your big piece of glass is. to the side of that big glass is a small glass about an inch wide. most likely there is something on it. clean and you should be good to go.
I have no idea what "paperport 11" is. That being said, normally a line down the page when copying or scanning is caused by dirt on the Automatic Document Feeder glass, Not the flatbed glass. It is a thin strip of glass to the left of the flatbed scanner glass. Clean it.
This means the read area is dirty. Clean the glass with glass or lens cleaner at the area where you place the head of the paper if you wanted to lift the cover and scan a page without the autofeeder. There may be white out or toner stuck to the glass. This can be removed with a glass blade. This answer assumes that prints from the computer are fine...
Have you tried cleaning the document feeders Scan Glass? (small glass under doc feeder ~ 1" by 9") Most times there is dirt spot on this glass, causing a shadow on scans and copies.
Try copying from the large glass by lifting doc feeder / platen cover and manually placing original. If no line copying or scanning manually from large glass, then small scan glass is deffenitely the culprit. Hope this helps.
All you need to do is to clean the small wide glass (that at the LEFT of the main flat big class). The Auto Document Feeder (ADF) specifically uses this glass to scan for copy (and fax). When it is dirty (such as small dirt or particles on the surface which is easy to gain in long run), it will create thin vertical line(s) as the result.
I was getting a verticle black line and I had to clean the glass, the long white bar above the glass, and the white and black rollers before my problem was solved.
If it makes verticle lines only when using the document feeder it is most likely a dirty glass strip over the scanner light bar. If it makes verticle lines in all modes (printing, flat bed scanning/copying, receiving faxes) it could be the fuser or a dirty glass over the laser where ever the laser images to a drum roller (usually a larger green roller). It is possible that this green drum roller is inside the toner - if so - replacing the toner cartridge could fix it. Maybe you could try an old used toner to see of the problem changes - if so - it is very likely that a new toner would fix your print quality issue.
