As a part of the download process, most cameras and transfer applications ask you if you want to delete the images off of your camera once they've successfully transferred to your PC. Check the preference setting of the application you're using to transfer the images to your PC. Best way to check is to transfer images to your PC, disconnect the transfer cable and see if the images are still on your camera.

How to install program without disc on cannon power shot A520 camera

You can download software from the manufacturer's web site at
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_a_series/powershot_a520#DriversAndSoftware

You might want to consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I have a Canon Power Shot A520 and have just put in a new memory card 4GB and new batteries. When I turn on camera is says memory card error at the top of the sceen. Why is that?

The A520 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible.

You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.

How do I download the pictures off my power shot a520 canon camara? I have it hook up to the usb cord but I still can not get any pictures off it.

Once you have connected the camera to the PC via USB, the pc should identify the camera (on Windows XP and later versions). In case this doesn't happen try re-starting the camera, alternately switch to another USB socket on your PC.

Canon power shot a560 erased pics

You can get the pictures back but DO NOT take any more pictures or add data of any sort to the card.

Bring it to your local computer store and they should be able to recover the information.
