How to convert my Panasonic DMR -E30 dvd recorder from uk region to multi region format

I wonder if anyone could tell me the easiest/cheapest way to convert Panasonic DMR-E30 to multi region format

    Thanks Doodad for your answer.However,the remote doesnt have a button marked Shift.Any ideas/comments?

Turn On player with no disc inserted
While pressing Shift on the remote press Setup
Press Enter twice
Move the cursor to Other
Enter the appropriate four-digit region setting, beginning with 000
Press Enter
Press Return twice
Switch unit Off for at least 3 seconds

    INORDER TO ENTER THE REGION YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHSE THE UPGRADE REMOTE AND FIRMWARE FROM PANASONIC :( still looking for another one..

    BTW you need the service remote to unlock all the hidden features including the region free hack, unless you are willing to mod the firmwre and piggyback a chip in the player

    Sorry sir but the only way is with the service remote, but PAL versions (especially the austrialan versions) are supposed to already be region free except for PAL region 4 it should play everything else,, If yours isnt like that, then you will need the service remote..

How do I make the DMR-E55 multi region
You can't do it in normal operation. This region business is part of the copy protection scheme required by the motion picture industry's agreement with the DVD recorder manufacturers. You can change your recorder's region up to five times. After that, you have to replace an EEPROM with another one from the manufacturer in order to change regions again.

The easiest solution I can think of is to get more DVD recorders and set them to different regions. If you are a dedicated hardware hacker perhaps you can build an addressable EEPROM switcher into your machine with one chip for each region. : )

What is region 2
HELLO

REGION 2 is the DVD playback encoding for the UK, Ireland, Central and Eastern Europe to name a few. Your DVD player or recorder will be "Locked" to this region......unless you hack the machine to play ALL regions (to multi-region) the unit.

If you have a look on Wikipedia on the net, it will tell you all the region codes of different countries. (:-)

I think it is against the law for shops in the UK to sell multi-region DVD players. I could not find a hack for this player that worked.
It is possible to convert it on your PC and burn it as a region free Disc.

DMR-E50 Region Codes
have been looking for hacks myself but as yet can't find one...

I have seen remote controls for sale on Ebay for this (Converts to multi region at the press of a button) seem to sell at reasonable prices.

Has limited life say around 10 uses.
