Our Sanyo Vizon did the same thing just last night. Unfortunately, my husband didn't keep any of the warrenty paperwork. Please let us know what the issue is.

I feel bad that we all have this problem but on that note at take solice in the fact that we are not alone in this problem. I am trying to "hard-reset" my tv by letting it set for 4+ hours I hope that works. If not I have an odd feeling there with be a boot print in the mid of the screen. ;)

  • curtis10 Feb 05, 2009

I did contact Harvey Eans. Sanyo did call me back within 30 minutes of e-mailing Harvey and offered to supply any parts I need as long as I paid the labor

I have the same problem. I called Cs and got someone I could hardly comm with. They told me to reset the tv but remote is not working. then they told me it is a backlight. but where do you get a backlight here. And i am in the same state as the factory and headquarters.

I am going to try fix #6 submitted by stevinsf2004

Will advise if it works for me as well.

  • team26racer May 02, 2009

We have the same problem NO picture but do have sound. I would think the BBB should hear about this and the lemon law should cover these issues. Never should anyone spend this amount of money and only get 14 months of TV. We have a 20 year old TV that still works and we are now watching. Sanyo should be ashamed of their products and service.

I have sound but my screen is too bright. Like there's a thin white veil over the picture. Any suggestions?

I have this tv as well with the same problem. From the research I've done, one of the 16 ccfl's(backlight bulbs) goes bad and they all will not come on then. I have not been able to find a replacement ccfl for this particular tv. The ccfl size if 3mm x 711mm. I have a feeling the scope of this problem is very large with this particular tv and this forum represents the tip of the iceberg. Sanyo unfortunately makes a piece of junk and we have that piece of junk sitting in our homes with no good solution other than to say, dont waste your money on another Sanyo tv.

Its the backlight inverter board. i just fixed my sanyo DP32746 myself in 1/2 hour. researching here, i found moniserv online store,i found the part (heres the link) http://www.lcdparts.net/LCDTVInverterdetail.aspx?InverterOriginal=VIT71008.60 they are in san francisco, and i happen to live in s.f. so i went there in person and picked up the board ,it was $179.99 + tax got home switched it out myself with a philips head screwdriver and a small nut driver .i dont have any special training or skills and it was an easy fix . sanyo were total **** about this problem i took a chance on doing the fix myself and im glad i did . good luck.

Fix #6 submitted by stevinsf2004 worked for me.
The key is, when you turn the set on, if there is a momentary white light, then this fix will probably work. The $179 inverter board I received didn't look a whole lot like the original, but after a closer look all the connectors are correct. It appears to be an upgraded circuit board. Set works great now. It was simple to do, just take your time.
Thanks and good luck.

Has anyone gotten anywhere with this situation? My parent's Sanyo just had this same problem. Manufactured in Feb 2007. They have had it for about 1 year, unfortunately, lost the receipt. The price of this TV is a very large amount for my parents to spend, so if anyone has had success in getting Sanyo to do something, please post.

Thanks

Chris

I have a very similar problem with my 17 month old Sanyo DP32746. I have e-mailed support twice and have gotten no reply. I just sent an e-mail to Mr. Eans. I will post the result hear. If any one else gets results please let me know. Thanks - smitty505

I did contact Harvey Eans. Sanyo did call me back within 30 minutes of e-mailing Harvey and offered to supply any parts I need as long as I paid the labor (set iwas 17 months old in August). My set has been in the repair shop since 8/10/2008. It appears that the main board that they have sent out three times in bad (based on what my repair guy reported to me this past Friday). The screen (backlight?) has been replaced once. I e-mailed Eans this morning requesting a new replacement set. I have not heard back yet.

While I do appreciate the fact that Sanyo offered free replacement parts on my out of warranty set, this whole episode has left me feeling that Sanyo offers products that are garbage. I will not purchase another Sanyo product again - EVER!

I will post the out come of this fiasco here.

Rca 32 screen turns on but stays black

Theres no start-up signal being encoded, this means the interface board has an offset capacitive value. You need to test and measure the capacitors and npn/pnp transistors, along finding some open diodes too on the main board (interface). You have to test the capacitors under their operating voltage also to see at which point their breaking down. The problem is a 'load' condition on the main board. You can repair the board if your savy and you have test equipment or you can just replace the board. If you want to replace it e-mail me and I'll help you out....

What is the best way to clean the TV screen ?

1Turn off your monitor or set the background color to black so you can easily identify spots that need to be removed. Step2Apply the distilled water to your clean, soft cloth. Step3Wipe your LCD screen in smooth motions from left to right, going from the top of the screen to the bottom. Step4Let the screen air dry or simply run a dry area of the cloth over the screen again.

Sanyo ce32ldy1b lcd 160gb black screen with sound

It sounds like you have a power supply problem, this powers the inverter! Where you just replaced the inverter, we could assume it is good! Look for some bad caps (capacitors) on the power supply board. They will look bulged on the top an may be a little leaky (brownish stain). The power supply can fail on some output and be good on others. Was the back light inverter new? If all else fails, see if you can return the back light inverter and get another! I hope this is helpful!!
