I used -R blanks to burn home movies and they will
I used -R blanks to burn home movies from my camcorder and they will not play at all on my Daewoo combo unit ? They do play in my Daughters new lap top.
Re: I used -R blanks to burn home movies and they will
NOT ALL DISCS WILL PLAY ON ALL DVD'S. IT'S THE NATURE OF THE BEAST. TRY PLAYING THEM ON A MORE EXPENSIVE DVD PLAYER. THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT PROTOCALLS USED BY THE DIFFERENT COMPANIES.

Which blank media do you have? Check out CDFREAKS.com forum Does your burner prefer + or- disks? Try a slower burn speed Try a different blank media. Don't buy the cheapest disks
I have good results with Verbatum, Taiyo Yunden (Fuji)
I have the exact same camera and same exact same problem. Any analog Video8 or Hi-8 camcorder or VCR will play these tapes.
By using the same cassettes as Hi8, many (NOT ALL) Digital8 (produced by Sony exclusively) camcorders are able
to play analog Video8/Hi8 recordings, preserving compatibility with
already recorded analog tapes.
you can connect Digital8 camcorders to your computer to download your movies for editing or Internet use.
As of 2008, Digital8 camcorders have been
removed from the equipment offered by Sony.
most of the movie if download from the net protected my different formating keeping people from burning and selling coppies. as long as your dvd play dvd is working fine. I got lots of those downloaded movies from a friend myself some play and some dont. I bet you if you go through most of your copy dvd some will play and some dont. Your sysytem may read some dvd VS mine may read some of your's that you system dont reads, you will not find a unit" DVD" will deformat the protection copy rights. I have 850.00 unit almost top of the line still wont read lots of copy DVD.
The best way to play burned movies is to copy them onto a memory stick or external hard drive then copy them onto the ps3 i use this method and find the movies play in much higher quality than dvd-r or+r or whatever discs you use
I have converted home videos on my PC this way. I have a Sony camcorder whose output connects to my firewire card in the PC. I also use windows Movie maker. While it is recording, I don't hear the audio. After saving the file and playing it back, I hear the audio, along with seeing the movie. Windows movie maker allows me to stop, start, and record the movie. It has complete control over the Sony camcorder by using the firewire port on the PC.
Are you using DVD+R or DVD-R to burn the movies to? DVD+R is what you want to burn movies to for best quality and DVD-Rs are for like pictures and documents etc (even though you can also burn those to a DVD+R). Secondly, most movies that burn are played back in MP3 format, make sure your dvd playing is capable of playing MP3s.
What exactally do you mean by you bought 2 different types of blank videos?
What are the compatible types of DVD's that the Daewoo DVD5800 player is supposed to play? Is DVD-R among the compatible types? Try playing the new recordings on a computer that has a DVD drive, or a friend's computer.
