Changing Text Message Tone

I can't change my text message tone to anything except the tones that came on my phone. I have downloaded many ringtones, but none show up when I try to change the tm tone.

It's because the text alerts and alarms etc. all require a different file format than what the presets are...notice the preset tones already on the phone are ".mmf?" well most downloaded/bluetoothed/purchased ringtones are mp3s, not mmfs. i have the same phone..and i am fed up with this stupid problem. i don't know how to convert the file type..sooo i guess we're stuck at stupid.

ATTENTION ANY SYNC OFFICIAL READING THIS:

ooo you know what. i found out that there is, in fact, a .mmf rington converter online. so try googling that..and you'll need a usb cord.

but other than that, don't ask me how to use it.

cuz i straight up DUNNO. mk. well bye.

Can i make any of my ringtones be the tone for incoming texts and also, can i use animated wallpapers that actually move?

you can download animated themes at www.mobile9.com and www.zedge.net for your e71 phone. as for the ringtones, yes, you can use these tones to be the the incoming tones of your text messages. go to setings, profiles, general, choose personalise, message alert tone and choose your favorite aac or mp3 tone to be your message alert tone.

I would like to change text message ring tone but can only find how to change ringtone and not for text messages

I found the answer!! Go to Menu>Settings>Profiles, then go to Options>Edit. Push the right side of the square (that you use to navigate the menus) so that you're working with New Messages, not Incoming Call. Go down to Message Alert Tone, then go to Options>Change>Use Effect Tone. If you were trying to use an .mmf that you downloaded, or any of the preloaded ones that can be used as incoming call ringtones, you'd go to Use My Alert Tone here. There are 4 tones under Use Effect Tone, and you can play them and choose one, just like you do to play and choose your ringtone.

Set a ringtone for a text message SYNC SGH-A707

"My Effect Tones" can only be MMF files. Ringtones can be WAV, MMF, MP3, etc... as long as the file is under 300kb I think. You need to convert your ring tones to MMF to use them as "Text Tones"
