When i plug my monitor the screen comes on and then turns off. i move the mouse but nothing happens. it seems to go to sleep but doesn't wake up
please help
Monitor boots to desktop then goes black. When I cycle the power switch the monitor comes on for 5 seconds and then black. I tried the flashlight test. I can see the desktop icons. Can I buy a new PSU? If not where can I buy the capacitors. Thanks for your help.

I am using two different monitors on my system one is a CTX monitor and the other is the PL2230WDB monitor. Whenever I turn on my system the desktop screen turns blue on the PL2230WDB. I always have to toggle the color quality settings on the display properties between 32bit and 16bit just to get it back to normal. Is there a fix for this problem. Monitor shuts off as if in sleep mode but wont come back on. If you power the monitor off and on...it works for 5 seconds then back off again. Any fixes???

Replace the caps on the psu. c215, c211, c213, c214, c216, c212. they are 470uf 25v. It comes apart very easy and the caps are in a good position for removal.

Hello, The reason your monitor switched to power saving mode is because the operating system on your computer told it to. A computer left on and unattended is programed to sleep/hibernate after usually a short period of time. Without going to in depth, There are stages of sleep and after time the hibernation deepens. However, moving the mouse or pressing a key should take it out of sleep. Microsoft has a support page for this issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/266283 Good Day
Most Dell LCDs have multiple inputs and they will go into "standby" while waiting for a signal from your PC.
This happens when your PC goes into "sleep" mode or if you are sure your PC is not in "sleep" mode then usually the LCD is not in the correct input selection. Check the input selection for the appropriate input. As always, make sure the cables are securely connected. Hope this helps.
dont know how old monitor is but it may be time for an upgrade OR the pc/laptop/desktop? may need some setting changes for your wake time, sleep time, intervals, etc.? Sometimes if laptop,, you have to tap the power button to wake up after extended sleep times.
the light blinking makes me think that the moniter is going in to sleep mode...try turning the computer on while the moniter is not pluged in(pull the blue vga cable) wait a bit then move the mouse around then plug the vga coble back in...(while the screen is already on)
Normally a monitor will come out of sleep mode merely by moving the mouse or hitting a key on the keyboard. It all has to do with your power settings. If in Windows, click on START/ControlPanel/Power Your Power settings determine how long your monitor stays on as well as hard drive disks when computer is idle. Just select a longer period of time or "Never" for monitor shut off settings.
