Dishwasher not getting water.

Yesterday, my older GE dishwasher, model GSD2000Z02AD, was giving off a burning type of smell after having run for about 15-20 minutes. Nothing was in contact with the heating elements. The dishes were still dry, the soap lid had popped...didnt see if there was any water at the bottom of the tub. I have noticed that occasionally, there is a small to moderate amount of water leakage from the bottom on the floor. I tried again today, listening closely for normal operation...heard water coming into the unit, then to the spray arms...opened up the dishwasher, dishes are wet and the unit seems to be working. I use this on a regular basis. What gives?

Sounds like the water inlet valve isn't working. Check your house water pressure and make sure it's not above 80 psi. If it isn't, then call a repair company that handles GE warranty work.

Burning smell coming from dishwasher caustic to nose. GE Potscrubber 900. Nothing on element upon inspection. Smell more at beginning of wash cycle or when using the pot scrubber button

Older GE's had problem with drain coils over heating
Remove the bottem front plate and the coil will be on the left side of the moter and activate when the drain cycles, check that

A burning smell and steamy smoke come out when we open the door.

Normally, the last part of any cycle involves using the heater element inside, and at the bottom of, the dishwasher to give dishes a final hot rinse. Possibly some small plastic-type material has become melted and stuck to the element - which will remain hot even after all water is discharged. Hence the smell.

Dishwasher not working

The motor may be burned out or there may be another electrical issue which would also cause the symptoms you describe. Call around and try to get an estimate, and at the same time look at new ones on sale.............one question is how secure will u feel with that maching......now that it has acted up like this.

Dishwasher has a smell and all the water is not being pumped out

There is a product called " Dishwasher Magic " to clean, deodorize, and disinfect dishwashers. Hardware, appliance parts, and possibly grocery stores should carry it. It comes in a rectangular 12 once bottle.
Also, check to see that the drain hose loops up higher than the outlet into the drain so no water will run back into your dishwasher from the drain or disposer. Plugged up pump inlets and on some models a degraded drain pop up valve will also result in excessive water remaining in your dishwasher. You didn't state you model number in your post so I can't tell if your machine has one of those.

My asko 3122 dishwasher never heats up

Sounds as though the element burned out I would suggest you have a qualified technition out to confirm and replace so he\she can inspect the machine and see if there is indeed another fualt, the element can blow for a number of reasons but like a light bulb blowing it is electrical and can go at any time,I would not suggest you attempt the repair by yourself unless you have some sort of experiance with this type of thing.

Hi Lisa in AR

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: Why won't your soap dispense anymore?

Yes, you're correct. This is best looked at by a local pro! You may want to compare the cost of repairing a six year old dishwasher now verses temporarily putting the soap in manually till you can find a good price on a new one. Personally, I loath throwing good money after bad so I go for the latter and we're coming up on the holiday discount season.

Mine is doing the same thing. I just removed the motor & it is definitely where the smell is coming from. Mine is about 3 years old.
