Will not show anything in view finder

When trying to film or capture movie images, the view finder is black, however you can view tapes recorded earlier when camera was working on the lcd.
Is the digital processor gone bad or could it something more simple. It will record sound but not the images.

I wonder if it is a built in "force you to have service by Sanyo" situation and they just reset it for $100's of dollars!

Same problem for me! Records sound but no image. Playback from earlier recorded images works fine.

Same here. Looks like the old TV's when the picture tube would go out. Sometimes I can see some movement in the screen but you would not be able to recognize anything. Has sound, but picture is very distorted.

I sent my camera to a repair center for samsung and they replaced the ccd at no charge and it fixed the problem. I have used it and all is working and playing the old tapes as well. Thanks for your help, but got the answer from a blog as well as the address to send the camera to. Have a blessed day.

VC500 - Arc Soft Biz capturing problems

Using old tapes is the wrong way to go. Eventhough there is an rease head in the VCR, there will always be some residual information left behind that affects the new recording. Older tape also has a tendency to flake off and plug a video head. A tape with a wrinkled edge will confuse the recorder speed sensor and try to change speeds too.

Viewfinder and LCD screen only show black and record black

If camcorder shows old recorded tapes picture with correct colors in LCD but does not show live view in camera mode to record new movie then its ccd imager chip failure.
And if camcoder shows live view and old recorded tapes in its eye piece view finder but does not show any thing in LCD the its problem of broekn/ cracked flexible wire between lcd board and main board of camcorder.
Let me know your finding with bit detail to provide you solution/ helpful info.

Recording

This sounds like the CCD sensor is faulty ( this is the device that generates picture in both v-cams and normal digital cameras and sits behind the lens ). Playback is fine but no image ( or very 'noisy' image ) in capture mode. Easy to repair but one has to put a new CCD block in.

Video Capture Problem

Sounds like your imaging block is bad or a ribbon cable came loose. You can get the service manual for $24.00 US at http://www.servicemanuals.net You will need a good jewelers screwdriver set, magnifying glasses, a steady hands and a whole lot of patience. Make lots of notes as you disassemble the unit if you ever want to get it back together. After you get it apart check for any loose or disconnected ribbon cables, especially in the area of the CCD block which is the front of the unit behind the lense. Good luck and let us know how you make out or if you need any more help.
