I have acer aspire t650-997z and i cannot format c: the widows cd keeps reading 4 removable slots that aren't there is there a special way to format it
If you want to format it you have to reinstall the os . Actually all information of the os is sitting in c drive ... in running time of windows you can't format the c drive .....
To format and reinstall the os get a windows(XP,vista,98) botable cd ...boot from cd ... it will start the setup...... in middle of setup it will ask for the format ......
if its not formatting one more solutions is there to continue the setup..... in middle of setup its asking for delete partition ..... delete the c drive and recreate it and format ......
the subst command:
Associates a path with a drive letter.
SUBST [drive1: [drive2:]path]
SUBST drive1: /D
drive1: Specifies a virtual drive to which you want to assign a path.
[drive2:]path Specifies a physical drive and path you want to assign to
a virtual drive.
/D Deletes a substituted (virtual) drive.
Type SUBST with no parameters to display a list of current virtual drives.
So:
subst a: /D
...should remove the substituted drives.
I would ask your friend first, though, why they ran that command. The
subst command is commonly used for networking purposes, or to run a
program that "defaults" to a given drive letter to redirect the program
to using the drive you want it to use. And that's a pretty advanced
command, so I would check with your friend about why that command was
used and what, if anything, would happen if you undid that command....
this is second solution .....
open disk management and right click on the hard disk ...> properties ...>polices...>select enable write caching on the disk then ok... to remove the removal drives
