The amp is in the rear panel pass side if you have the Mach sound system. There are 5 wires going into the amp and 2 going out to the sub.
Light Grn w/ Purple stripe is the 12v power (thick)
Blk w/ Grn Stripe is the grnd (thick)
Drk Grn w/ Pruple stripe is the remote (thin)
Red w/ blk stripe is sub high output +
Drk Brown with Orange is the high output -

Does anyone no where the Factory amp is located in a 97 Ford Expedition? and how i can bypass it without a "Bypass Harness"

The factory amp for the door speakers is mounted vertically directly under the Climate Control ASSY under the Radio. The connectors are on the bottom of the amp. You have to take out the console (directions are here - http://www.fordforums.com/f60/97-eddie-b... ). I am still working on finding the wiring diagrams for the amp connectors.

Google bypass harness for Ford expedition. You can buy a bypass harness for around $10. Its a straight hook up and ur ready to go.

1999 ford expedition factory amp im trying to replace with aftermarket amp

First you have to locate the factory amp, find output plug then find each wire and run to your new amp. Your basically bypassing old amp. your left front, red with white stripe is possitive. Brown is negative. Right front possitive is green. Negative white/ orange, left rear possitive light blue/black, negative yellow, right rear possitive is purple/white, right rear negative is light blue. Good luck :)

I have a 95 thunderbird lx need to know what wires are what for stereo.

Im not sure on the 95. But the 96/97 they had factory amplifiers in the trunk. You could install a new radio but you need to bypass those factory amps. Metra or another kit manufacture will sell you the harnesses you need. One for between the factory plug and the radio. Metra will have the wires labeled as to what they are to connect to. The other end of the wires should be your aftermarket. Which will be in the users manual or install guide that came in the box. If your trying to bypass the factory amps in the trunk and you get stuck. Head on over to the guys at TCCOA.com visit the forums and you will get more specific help from people who still own those cars.

I need to find out if my 97 ford expedition has a amp and a subwoofer factory and if so where is it located

Hello,

97 Ford Expedition's came with two types of systems. With and without the MACH audio system. This can be determined by looking to see if there is a factory sub located on the passanger side rear side panel in the cargo area. If there is a sub there its the MACH audio system and the amp is located behind the same panel.

because you have a built in factory amplifier that has to be bypassed. another option is to buy the kit that they make so you can USE your factory amplifier.

How do you connect a pioneer d2 navigation system to a 2006 ford expedition entertainment system

You need to identify the four wires that carry the DVD audio in the factory plug, and re-wire them to RCA plugs that can be used with the Auxiliary input RCA jacks on your Pioneer unit. The four wires should be: Left (+) light green Left (-) white Right (+) red Right (-) black The easiest way is to purchase some inexpensive RCA cables (or better yet, speaker wire with RCA ends). Cut the cables and wire the center pin conductor wires to the (+) audio wires in the stock plugs, and connect the outer shield conductors to the (-) wires. Then connect the RCA plugs to your head unit's auxiliary input jacks.

I dont get any sound

Many vehicles have factory amplifiers that must be activated or bypassed when installing a replacement head unit. If the factory amplifier isn't integrated or bypassed, you won't hear sound from the factory speaker locations. Another possibility is that you have a shorted or pinched speaker wire or terminal. A short at any speaker will shut down the head unit's internal amp, killing the sound to all the speakers. The RCA outputs wouldn't be affected, so the subwoofer keeps playing.
