If you go onto the palm and into prefs, you will want to go into the security section and click on assign.

What we want to do is to reset the password.

We are looking to get to the prompt "lost password".

There may be an option for lost password , but if not, try entering the wrong password in a couple of times. This should eventually prompt you for one of the options listed above.

You will need to then say "lost password" and accept it when it says info will be lost. The only info that would be lost is info you designate as "private" which hardly anyone does.

Do you have any important data that would be lost if you completely reset the palm?

The only way I could get past the auto lock without knowing the password would be to do a hard reset.

This will erase all data on the palm, but when you sync and choose the profile, it should restore what was there the last time you did a successful sync.

    Hard Reset

    A hard reset will delete
everything on your device. All your data will be deleted, and formats,
preferences and other settings are restored to their factory default
settings. Don't perform a hard reset unless you've backed up your data, or you're willing to lose everything.

Want to back up and restore your data?

Be sure to perform regular HotSync operations to back up items. That way, if you need to reset your device in a way that deletes all data, you'll have a backup that you can use to restore your data

My palm tx stylus cannot press anything and i have to put in a unlock password (which i know) but i don't want to have to do a hard reset.

If you have the password then you should be able ot make this work. The 5-way button works like a (very annoying) joystick or mouse. You should be able to use that to navigate around instead of the stylus. Once you get into the tx then you want to run the prefs and then the screen calibration. That should get your stylus working.

Unfortunately this can also be the digitizer having failed. There is no driver or reconfig for this so you need to replace the hardware. You can usually purchase the digitizer and screen for about $45. There are dozens of PDA repair shops that sell palm parts. These shops will sell the digitizer (usually with the screen) and they will offer the repair service. This is a repair you can tackle at home. You need jewellers screwdrivers, an old credit card (to pry apart the case without making marks) and a 5 or 5.5 torx screw driver. If you look on the various pda parts web sites you will find instructional videos on doing this. Watch them and see if that looks like something to try (it should, it's actually very easy) then order your parts. This is also a good excuse to replace the battery as it needs to come out anyway so maybe get a new one at the same time.

To find the parts or a repair just use google or bing and search for PDA repair parts. Almost all will have stuff for the various palms. Check out the prices for parts and repair (pays to shop around) but don;t forget to have a look at the instructions.

I forgot my password on my palm treo cell phon

unfortunately, the password is made for protection from accidental or intentional access. The only way to bypass this would be to perform a hard reset and then hotsync your phone with your computer to put your contacts back on your phone.
For performing the hard reset that reformats your phone to factory condition, please follow the instructions below:
1. Press and hold down the red phone key on the right side of the Treo 650 keyboard until the Palm screen appears. This will begin the hard reset
2. Let go of the red phone button when you see the Palm screen.
  1. 3. Read the screen prompt carefully. It will ask you to press the up arrow key to proceed with the hard reset or the down arrow key to abort. Press the up arrow to continue with the hard reset.
    4. Wait for the phone to reboot. When it comes back on, it will ask you to select a language and walk you through the same introductory screens you saw when you first got the phone.
    5. HotSync your Treo 650 to your computer. When prompted, select your old username to restore all of your contacts and information. This should complete the hard reset process.
