Trouble printing a thicker form

Hi:I am able to print normal forms on my IBM 6400, but when I try to use a thicker form for tax reporting, the printer starts up & stops after a couple of lines & I keep getting an "out of forms" msg. I am not out of forms, I have adjusted the forms thickness lever, I can delete the print job & go to a normal print job & the printer will print fine. I have used these forms before, so I know that is not the problem. ANY ideas?

Hi,
I have come accross this problem on a number of sites. It may be the Paper Out sensor. It works by emitting light from one half of the sensor reflectiong it of the paer and picking it up with the other half of the sensor. When no paper is present, the light cannot reflect and hense a paper out error is reported. I have seen this error occur when paper with dark backing ( like that for bank and tax forms ) is used.

Custom size doesn''t present on your driver on Form to Tray Assigment in

Hi, I can't understand what "Custom size doesn''t present on your driver " means. the drver is just the piece of sofware used by windows to make your printer work. Custome size setting should have nothing to do with the driver.

Printer suddenly stopped working with quickbooks but will still work with all other programs. window states: change port assignments or reinstall software. printer is hooked up wirelessly

Hi there,

  1. Open the QuickBooks sample company and try to print the same form or type of form. If it prints successfully, your company data, form template, or customized report may be damaged.
  2. Reopen your company file and try to print an uncustomized (standard/default) form template or non-memorized report. If the issue occurs again, refer to Verifying and rebuilding the QuickBooks company data and then attempt to print again.
  3. If you were printing a batch of forms in QuickBooks, attempt to print a single form. If successful, try printing smaller batches.
  4. If you were able to print from QuickBooks in the past from this company file:
  5. Turn off the printer, restart your computer, and then turn the printer back on.
  6. In QuickBooks, choose File > Printer Setup and check the printer settings for the specific form you're trying to print.
  7. Click Help in this area for more detailed instructions on these settings.
  8. Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers for your printer. Go to the manufacturer's website to download and install the most current drivers.
  9. Replace the QuickBooks Qbprint.qbp file:
  10. Close QuickBooks.
  11. Rename the qbprint.qbp file.
  12. Open QuickBooks and attempt to print again.
  13. If the issue persists, repair the QuickBooks installation.

I can only print the 941 form in quickbooks. Nothing else.

Open QuickBooks and go to file at the top left of the screen. Click on it. This will give you a drop down list. Choose "printer set up". This will give you a list of forms. Choose the name of the form you want to be able to print while in QuickBooks and this will take you to an area to choose your default printer. Click the arrow next to the name of the printer you want to use to print your forms and then save and close the window.

IBM 6400 Dot Matrix Printer - Need Drivers for Windows XP

Try running couple of these test, to see if it might be another issue.
It should be printing these test at 1500 Line Per Minute... ?
1500LPM is at 10CPI if you have (Font size: 6, 8, 12, 14) it will make a difference.
Change your driver to Generic/Text, rerun your report... any difference?
