Cd rom my drive d: which is the cd-rom drive can not be found in my computer.. is my cd rom already damage?

Perhaps you should try to clean the lens of your cd-rom with a cd cleaner or clean the cd that you are inserting to your cd rom...

try to slam the SD door in harder so it reconnects to the plug inside make sure your computer is off when you do this or you will damage your harddrive

Have you tried unplug cd rom drive then reboot and plug it back in should initiate the found new hardware wizard if it does not initiate the wizard try control panel add new hardware wizard and follow the prompts you will get to the screen asking you if you have already connected the hardware click next will open a screen with all your connected devices hopefully your cd rom drive will be listed if not it could be a power\lead problem or a driver problem

you might have to physically unplug the disk drive then plug it back in this should activate the found new hardware wizard or
control panel administrive tools computer management device manger scroll to disk drives + to expand if you see your drive right click you will have options update driver ,uninstall,scan for hardware changes,properties in the properties tab you will have more options in the general tab you can troubleshoot, in the driver tab you can update driver,rollback driver,uninstall driver

make sure that the cd rom is getting enough consistent power test all leads that are attached to the cd rom including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd rom then plug them back in this will activate found new hardware wizard or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your cd rom or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device

control panel admistrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall
or it might be a registry problem
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer
Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

why dont you check the the cd rom on another computer and see if it experiences similar problems. If not try updating your bios and your drivers for cd rom. If you experience similar problems on another computer the drive might be failing. Consult the drive supplier and ask for a repair or replacement

Your BIOS is looking for a drive to "boot" from and does not see your harddrive or CD-rom.

You may have a harddrive failure or bad drive controller.

One way to see is to load your operating system disc in your CD-rom and see if the computer sees the drive and boots up. If it boots, try to locate your "C" drive. If you can't locate the harddrive, it's a good bet it's damaged.

If the CD-rom doesn't boot, it is most likely a bad drive controller or cable.

maybe cd lens is damaged in which case u may need to change the drive itself

your problem is very clear... your cd-rom is corrupted.. install new windows... NOTE-do this only if your cd drive is NOT displayed in my computer..

yes i think the cd rom is the problem ,use external cd drive for the re installation or you can use a flash disc

Hi, it only means that the drive is already damage and you need to contact the manufacturer of your computer and verifiy if your computer is stil under warranty so that they can replace the drive with no additional cost but for some reason if you have physically damage the drive then you will be charge for the said repair so it depends on the warranty of the computer.
