This is usually caused by trying to acces the router by entering the password wrong 3 times. just close your browser & try again.
1. you must be directly connected to the router with a cable.
2. if you dont remember the password you must press the reset button on the router & redo all your settings.
3. sometimes the firewall settings on the computer can cause you not to connect. temporarely turn off you firewall & try again.

" 401 unauthorised " is the error message i

No, but you can just reset the whole router and start from scratch. Hold the reset button on the rear of the router for 60 seconds and your will restore the unit to defaults, at which point you just need to reconfigure all of your configuration settings and password, as well as your wireless access code. Let me know if you require any additional assistance.

I can't access my linksys router set-up page. I keep getting this message: "401 unauthorized" authorization required

" 401 unauthorized" authorization required " .This message means the user name and password for the router is not correct. the default password of the Linksys router is admin with no user name ( leave it blank )
If the default password is not working then the router password must be changed.
If you don't know the password of the router then you will need to reset and reconfigure the router.
Once you reset the router , it will come back to the factory default settings.

Trying to connect to wireless network ,whats a wpa key?

A WPA Key is the network key you use to connect up to the wireless on a router. It prevents unauthorised use of your internet connection. If you need to get to this it is often printed on the bottom/side of the router somewhere as network key or security key. If it's not there then you'll have to go into the router setup and into the wireless section and find what the key is in there.

i take it by your comment "unauthorised people been accessing it" that you wish to use the router wirelessly? do you currently have any type of encryption set up on the wireless signal at the moment eg WPA(2)-PSK, WEP, etc?

401 Authorization Error when accessing a Web-based Utility

Getting the 401 Authorization Required error page means that you tried to access a Setup page and entered an invalid password three (3) times. To reset the password, the device must be reset to factory default settings. Resetting the device: 1. Hold in the Reset button (usually located on the front or back panel) for 30 seconds. 2. Unplug the power cord to the device and wait for 1 minute. 3. Plug the power cord back into the device. 4. This will restore the device's default settings, which includes a default password of admin. 5. You can now try to access the Setup page again. Accessing the Setup Page: Open a Web Browser (either Internet Explorer or Netscape). Type the IP Address of the device into the Address Bar and press [Enter]. 1. The User Name and Password Prompt will appear. 2. Leave the User Name Field blank. 3. Type in the Router?s Password, admin, (the default Password). 4. Click OK or press the [Enter] key. If the device was reset to factory settings, the password of admin should be valid and the Setup page should load. If not, repeat steps to reset the device.
