Same problem - loss of picture with green bars flickering

I am sorry I meant to post the above as a PROBLEM not a solution. We have the WD 522225 52 I wish I knew the answer, I keep reading about 'optical engines' and have a sinking feeling this is what I am up against. $$$

We contacted Mitsu today in Irvine. Sounds to us like they're aware of a widespread problem with this model. Told us to get a Mitsu Tech to diagnose and fax to them the outcome and someone would contact us back within two days. Seems like so many are having the same problem and all about 2.5 to 3 yrs. old. I paid $3,500.00 for mine. I'm not going down without a fight with Mitsubishi. Thought they were #1 in the Big Screen world. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR RECALL BY Mitsu should be in order....They know there is a problem with the power supply module.

My 73'' mitsubishi model #wd-73738. Is flickering.

Hi!
That's a clear indication that you have a bad power supply in your TV.
If you know how to DiY...I suggest you open your TV. Locate the power supply section, it is where the end of the power plug is connected. Replace all blown or bulge or leaked capacitors with same value. That will fix your TV problem.
The hardest part is to disassembling your TV cover, cause you will need to pry off the snap in lock at the edge of your TV.

Power supply board should look like this. Examine the capacitors in the board

After replacing blown capacitors...it should work again.

Things you will need.
1. A plastic flat end screw or any object with flat ends....to fry off the cover
2. Soldering iron.
3. Soldering lead
4. Soldering pump.
5. Flat and Philip Screw
6. Replacement capacitors (of same value with the blown one) that you can buy to any electronics store.

Or try replace light engine..if the above solution won't work..

Blue Flickering Screen - Which Repair Kit?

yes they provide a free service manual with their kits. the symptom of the blue screen could either be the signal or the FMT as they can both cause those symptoms, My professional guess would be the signal board as the FMT will cause distortion lines across the screen with no picture.
