To set the timer on a Mark 49 Culligan water softener to refill the brine tank, you will need to consult the user manual for specific instructions. The manual will provide information on how to set the timer to control the frequency of regeneration cycles, as well as the amount of salt that is added to the brine tank during each cycle. If you no longer have the manual, you can contact Culligan or check their website for a downloadable copy. If the brine tank is not refilling enough after cleaning, it is possible that the brine tank float may be stuck or damaged, or the water level in the brine tank may be set too low.
Service manuals for Culligan units are not available on line.
Owners manuals are available for many models though.

There is a problem with the piston/seal pack assembly pack in the valve. The seals get worn or some debris gets stuck and causes softener to run to the drain. The seal pack assembly needs to be replaced. If you are handy, you can do this. It takes about 1/2 hour for a novice. Parts are only available from Culligan. RJ
