Samsung DVD-VR357 Won't play ANY DVD's

I just got the Samsung DVD-VR357 & after a hell of a time setting it up I finally went to test it out last night. VCR works just fine and plays movies no problem but when I put a DVD in it when switched to the DVD mode it won't play. Keeps saying "No Disc" no matter what DVD I put in it. Tried a Netflix movie, blank disk, computer made DVD, store bought DVD and nothing works. I don't know why it won't detect any DVD's. It shows the icon like it's going to read the DVD but then says No Disc. So frustrated & called Samsung this afternoon & they showed me how to reset the unit but that didn't change anything. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Please help otherwise I will be bringing this back to BestBuy as a last resort. Thanks in advance for any help!

Wow, I bought mine yesterday and got the same problem. Wont play any DVD's. I am using DVD +R, regular movies, nothing works. I would love to hear of a solution besides taking it back.

Hey everyone I haven't checked back on this site since I posted my problem back in early January. Resetting the machine didn't work and I don't remember how they told me to do it but I brought mine back to Bestbuy and got another one. Same brand and model and this one works perfect! The last one was a lemon I guess and suggest if you get this issue to bring it back and swap for another one. I've heard a few people had this issue and must be a problem with a bunch of them that somehow got mixed in with good ones. No problems with the new one and is really easy to use. Good luck to all!

I've had my Samsung DVD-VR357 for several months with no problems, but now it doesn't want to play DVD's that I've recorded/written with my computer. This hasn't been a problem till just lately.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Samsung dvd vr-357; recorded DVD only plays on the player

You have to "Finalize" the disc before it will play on other units. Go to Disc Menu, Second choice listed(not in front of it right now) Selections to right will offer disc Finalize. Say YES.

Samsung dvd vr357 Can not watch copied dvd on other dvd players

I know with the Go-Video, the DVD disc has to be 'finalized' before it's compatible with other DVD players/computers.

Check your 'set-up' menus while that disc is inserted into your Samsung DVD machine and see about pushing the 'up' arrow, if you have one, to see the contents of the DVD disc...then see if you can toggle to the right to see options for that disc, for instance, the title of it. You might see the 'finalize' option there.

Samsung DVD-V$357 recorded dvds won't play on other machines

Did you finalize the disk? If not, this should solve your problem. When the disk is finalized you should be able to play it on your computer if you can play other DVDs on it. Some other DVD players can only play specific disks (i.e. DVD-R, DVD+R). This may be another problem.

How to record ?

I don't know a whole lot about electronic equipment, but I've never seen anything connected in so many ways at the same time. Maybe the antenna and one other type of connection. The different signals from all the connections are probably confusing each other. I would try one connection at a time to see if the problem improves. Good Luck.
