My Epson WF 7620 has become a home for ants. whenever I scan or copy something there are images of ants on the scan/copy. does anyone know how to remove the glass so I can get rid of them please?

That's kinda hilarious :>)

Spray the table around the copier with Rentokil Creepy Crawly spray. Also spray where the baseboard meets the carpet.

Getting scans or photocopies would mean they are walking on the underside of the glass? you need to kill them as the leave or enter.

If you really want to disassemble the machine, the screws are usually in the base area, and hidden behind the doors and drawers. There are often videos but on this model, only cleaning the print head.

My RoadPro RPSWR-3 (no C) is not marked for to radio or Ant. I believe the to Ant is next to the adjustment knob, Right?

Ant has special chemicals which will penetrate the ant's skin. Or they eat it and carry it back to their nest, where the other ants will eat it. The first ant used heavy metals and killed ants roughly the same way it would kill humans who ingested the same elements in high enough concentrations. A better question is how pesticides in general work. They work in a number of different ways, depending on the type. Two examples are organophosphates and carbamates. Both disrupt the enzyme that regulates the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Most organophosphates are insecticides, and some are very poisonous. Their effects on insects are similar to their effects on humans. There are several subgroups within the carbamates.

I need to clean the under side of the glass.

Cleaning the glass on what we call a "disposable printer" can be interesting. The simple process is to start pulling screws that appear to permit access to the scanner bed. For Lexmarks this generally involves an almost full disassembly of the machine. If you do get it apart be very careful not to let any dust or debris or solvents get near or on the scanner head, this will likely prevent it from properly calibrating and stop the entire machine from running. New all-in-one machines are generally designed so that if one function fails, the entire machine fails. I would say to just purchase a new machine, a repair bill will easily equal that cost and a novice repair job has a good chance of rendering the machine inoperable.

Have nest of ants under glass. Will not scan

Sorry to hear about the Ants. The only solution I can give you, it to take it outside, and spray with CAN Air, until all out. This is where I would start FIRST.

Good luck...........

Scanner glass clean

Cleaning the glass is rather simple. Take the 2 screws under the cover out. Now gently lift the top part of the scanner (some force may be needed). Then the scanner is in 2 parts and the glass can be cleaned inside and outside with a wet wipe glass cleaning pad. Dry the glass with a towel and inspect the glass with a lamp, that no cleanser remains are left. Now install the scanner in reverse order.

Hello Mandb,
I also have ants in my PIXMA MP760 multifunction unit, I have just pulled it apart and reassembled it after removing several black broken bits relating to the hinges at the back of the scanner lid. The ants have seemed to have left home (wishful) but I would recomend you take to it with a phillips screwdriver, (carefully) or, if you don't want to do the surgery, take it out in to the sunshine and leave it there for about an hour, no longer.
Give it a bump every 10minutes or so, just to give the ants a help along.

If this dosent help, try coaxing them out with some ant food, but be there in person to stop them returning afta, a feed.

Failing this, take it to the repairman.

Do NOT spray bug spray into it, if the ants die in there, they will decompose, in the process it will corrode any fine copper tracks on the PCBs, it will only be fit for the dump then.

BTW, food colouring seems to be a cheeeep excellent ink replacement :)
