The lcd scrren inside might have cracked although the exterior screen is intact. Can it be repaired? If yes what are the options, if no are there any buy back centers?
Have a brand new Sony Bravia 46" LCD 1080p tv, and my son hit it and cracked it. It didn't show up until we turned it on, and got sound, but only a big crack in the bottom right and no picture. I understand that the LCD panel will now have to be replaced, not repaired, and of course didn't get a extended warranty, and I'm sure Sony's warranty doesn't cover this. So any idea how much it would cost to put a new panel in? Most say just buy a new one, but this is NEW less than 2 weeks old.
We have a 40" Samsung LCD flat panel TV. Our son hit it and now we have sound with no picture and you can visably see the crack in the screen when the TV is on. The extended warranty did not cover repair or replacement. What can be done if anything.
Sorry about your tv, but i assure you you wont get any warrenty on that ,, screes dont just crack... It wont be much to get a new one actually,, just call sony and tell them your model tv and they will ship one to you,, or a cheaper alternative is going to your local electronics stroe and getting a substitute.. it ranges from 2$200.00 us to $250.00 or cheaper.. Any way you can get it changed your self as its only a matter of taking apart the thing by removing the screws, then removing the board and there will be your screen. Just take it out and install the new one. It jacks into the board so you wont be fidiling around much..
Or you can get a professional to do it. actually any hair brian technician can do it cheaply and it takes about 10 minutes.. I recomend you get a replacement from your local electronics stroe, eighter the original or a substitute, substitutes are cheaper
If it's two weeks old, you should try calling Sony but obviously mentioning that your son cracked it won't do you any good. Even if they won't cover it under the warranty, they could still give you the phone number for a service center near you, or tell you how much it'd cost for you to have them fix it. It is repairable, and worst case is, if you don't want to send it to a repair guy\Sony service center (or the repair costs too much), you can sell it on eBay and recover a large part of your money.
Also, would it be possible for you to provide the model numbers so I could provide more specific repair information? Also, would it be possible for you to provide the model numbers so I could provide more specific repair information?

Find out how to repair this? I have the ... Cracked TV Screen - LCD & LED TV Panel Repair Options & Replacement ... VizioFlat Screen Repair.
It's not a difficult repair, however, it will likely require a new LCD panel. I'm unsure how feasible it would be to order a replacement panel, but it might be worth speaking to a local repair tech (who may have a salvage panel) or searching Craigslist for an identical model in need of repair, but has an LCD panel that is intact. Personally, I've found that, unless the display panel shows physical damage (such as yours), it works well as a replacement part.
Buy a new tv.The tv u have now,the LCD screen panel it internal screen membrain is broken. The tv,u have now, dosen't worth a whole tv anymore.Tv only now, worth as only as a salvages tv for it electronic boards for parts, that it.The LCD screens panels are 90% important to the LCD tvs, when, that damages or broken. The tvs doesn't worth it to replaced it LCD or Plasma screens, because tvs screens panels are limited produced by the tvs industries,u will not able to buy it anywhere, but the tvs industries themselves. They'll sell it to u,but the same priced as a new tv.
I have the same problem with a 52" inch XBR. Went to sony and have a extended warranty. Warranty doesn't cover physical or accidental damage. To replace the panel costs more than buying a new TV. This is not fair to consumer. The warranty I paid for is useless and I can't even get it repaired. There should be some kind of group action to resolve this issue.
