I was able to unjam an ATIVA DX 180 D shredder now the shredding blades won't turn but the motor is running.

I was able to disassemble the gear/motor assembly to find the flywheel directly engaging the worm drive shaft is PLASTIC! This is a design flaw so when the motor overheats it weakens and slowly melts the gear driven potion therefore allowing tHe motor to disengage and stop moving the cutters You Ned to contact the factory to get the bad part god news though, it's real easy to fix.

You can use a bottle of shredder oil to saturate left over paper jam, let sit for 6-8 hours to let oil soak into paper. This should soften paper up enough to power thru jam. If this does not help than you should probally contact manufacturer.

Can not get paper to shred

Check the Power Ensure that the shredder top is firmly placed in the shredder basket if the unit will not operate. If the top is not in place the feeder will not work and accept any paper. Make sure it is firmly plugged into the wall outlet and that the outlet is active. Rest the Shredder Let the shredder cool down if the shredder has been running continuously for a long time. It may have overheated and needs to be left in the off position for at least 30 minutes to reset. Verify the basket is empty or not too full as that will cause the shredder to deactivate. Clear Paper Jam Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear. Auto Mode Not Working Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. The sensor is located in the middle of the feeder tray and could be blocked by jammed paper. Use an index card to firmly unblock any paper that could be blocking the sensor.

My son put a 25 page document in this shredder and bound her up better than any shredder jam I've EVER seen. What's the best way to clear this mess when the shredder can't overpower the jam? I'll pull...

There are various ways to clear the mess if you have patience and the time to work the jam. 1. Unplug the shredder and use a flat-head screw driver to dig as much out as you can, then plug it back in and flip the switch from forward to reverse a few times and then keep repeating the process until jam is cleared. 2. Use tweezers to remove paper from critical connection teeth and the try it again.

Infoguard shredder jam

When you set it to reverse, it Should propel the paper back out the top, where it's jammed. If it does not, remove power to the unit, and get ready for the long laborious process of removing the jam with a pair of tweezers. A hazard of paper shredders, maintenance can be a bit on the silly side.
