Xerox XA7-192i 19" LCD Monitor Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 14, 2009

I was given a Xerox XA7-19i monitor but the connection doesn't fit with my laptop. I can't seem to find an adapter that looks like it would fit. I don't even know what to aks for because I've never seen a connection like this before. Any thoughts?

Thanks a ton. Question - is it strange that my "male" connector looks very much like the DVI connector - but instead of 24 pins (8 rows of 3 pins) it has two separate groupings of 9 pins (each grouping has 3 rows of 3 pins) - leaving a gap between those two groupings????

Odds are your laptop has a standard VGA (blue smaller) input and the monitor is either a DVI ( white larger) or HDMI ( looks like a large wonky USB port). OR its the other way around and your laptop has the DVI/HDMI but I think I got it right due to the pictures I saw when i looked up the monitor.

You can buy a DVI to VGA adapter

http://www.google.com/search?q=dvi+to+vga+adapter&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

or you can buy a cable ( best option)

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=XGP&q=dvi+to+vga+monitor+cable&btnG=Search&aq=f&oq=&aqi=

If your laptop does not have the VGA input then you may possibly find another adapter that will fit onto the end of the monitor cable and interface with your laptop but you need to know what kind of input it is.

I have a Xerox Monitor and it will not power up.

Test the adapter voltage and see if it's the adapter or monitor, you can get a replacement adapter at Amazon or radioshack. If it's the monitor I would go to the thrift store or pawn shop for a good used one

Monitor will not light up

Some capacitors looking flat are blown off inside. (Should check largeest one too)
Use a tester to check the, again, first.
If you can see light on power button (some do), then should replace main board.
However, if monitor use a power supply looking an adapter type like laptop, check it also in case.

Hp G56-129wm won't boot. Powers up but doesn't show any screens, and then dies!

2 Suggestions:-
1) Did you tried to connect External Monitor? Tell me the status
2) Remove all Power Adapters and battery. Push the Power Button for 15seconds. Again Connected the battery and Power Adapter. Check if its working or not. If not then Must be Motherboard Problem.

The display on my laptop is blurry and has some type of distortion making it difficult to see (especially photos and videos). I've tried multiple resolution settings and none seem to resolve the issue.

Are you sure the video adapter card is OK? A low-end video card may not
have the bandwith necessary to support high refresh rates at high
resolution. Just because the card will *generate* a given mode doesn't mean
that it will work well. Try the following steps.

1. Reduce the refresh rate to 60 Hz The monitor may seem to flicker a
little, but don't worry about it.

2. If there was no change, the problem is likely in the monitor

3. If that improved the resolution, then try removing any monitor extender
cables and play with higher refresh rates again. If that fixes the probem,
great, otherwise

3. Replace the videa adapter card with a better one.

Where do I connect the audio cable ? It doesn't seem to fit into the digital audio hole.

In the green jack usually. If it doesn't fit, you have the wrong jack, and you probably need an adapter.

Vga lead will not fit tower

Try turning it around. If it still doesn't fit, you may need a DVI to VGA adapter.

The connector on the monitor is different than my computer how can it be hooked up the monitor is a xerox xg-91d

Most tech stores have adapters for this kind of issue. Try BestBuy, CompUSA, or Radio Shack. I would call first and describe what two ends you need the adapter for, i.e. 15-pin male --> 15-pin male. If you are trying to connect an Apple device with a PC device, they have adapters for that too.
