If the router is already set up, all you should have to do is run cable from router to xbox. Xbox should be set to automatically detect settings.

I have a linksys befsr41 but I do not have the installation cd and I am using OSX 10.6.4. Please help! Merci beaucoup

Hello,
When you connect your router using an Ethernet port you don't need any driver.

To access the configuration and setup of your router open your internet browser and in the address bar enter 192.168.1.1 and then press enter.

By default user is blank and password is admin

Here the manual and installation guide for your reference

I have a WRT54G router and want to daisy chain a Linksys BEFSR41 switch off it, but I seem to be doing it wrong...

Not sure if you just want to expand the amont of computer you can connect to it or the wireless range but I would setup the BEFSR41:
  • Disable DHCP
  • Set an address out of the DHCP scope of the WRT54G
  • Connect them LAN to LAN if not use xover to connect them

Internet wont work thru my Linksys BEFSR41 Cable/DSL Router W/4 Port Switch.....can i fix it or do i need a new one?

hi there, you need to configure the router first to connect over the internet.

checked if everything is properly connected, modem-router to the computer, checked the lights on the router and the modem as well if it is properly lit up.

if your ISP(Internet Provider) is cable then you need to clone the mac address of the computer, if you are running DSL, you need to input the username and password of your account from your ISP.

Accessing the router setup screen, open IE and type on the address bar 192.168.1.1 then nothing for username and password is admin.

on the setup screen you will see there Internet connection type, by default it is automatic configuration if you have cable connection as your Internet then leave it that way and look for mac address clone sub tab.

if you are running dsl for the Internet connection type you need to put PPPoE and input there your username and password from your ISP. then in everything you do you need to save the settings there.

Install router on windows XP

you could download the quick start from linksys.com for that but basically there is no installation necessary with windows, it's a network device that does not need to be installed. simply plug it in.

Im trying to hook up my xbox and get on the internet by using a linksys

Physically connect the XBox to one of the LAN connection of the router or be connected wirelessly.

If unable to connect to the Internet open these ports using the router under virtual server or port forwarding:

TCP 80, 3074 and 53

UDP 88, 3074 and 53

Note: Also the IP address of the XBox should be open to the section.

What equiptment do i need to hook up

You will need a DSL router. A sample would be the Linksys BEFSR41 that is a good option or if you want to try wireless the WRT54G will do.

Setup and confifuration of my linksys befsr41 ver 2 router

Since you did not include your exact model number and type of internet provider I cannot give you more specific instructions. Although you can refer to the links below on how to set it up. If you require further assistance just reply to this and give me the model number of your ISP and the model of your router. Also answer this question " When you plug your computer to your modem do you get online automatically or do you need a username and password"

NAT

First, you need to get into the user interface for the router.  To do that, just open your web browser, type in 198.168.1.1 & hit enter.  A login prompt will pop up if you're able to access the router.

If you've never done this before, the username is blank & the password is admin

What, exactly do you want to do with the NAT firewall?

To enable/disable NAT: click on setup, then click on advanced routing.

To filter Internet NAT redirection: click on security, then click on filters.

You can find this information in the User guide provided by LinkSys at:

Select your version number, then click on User Guide when it comes up.  User guides & Interfaces for the BEFSR41 are almost identical on every version.
