Hi Michael, if your Kenwood CD 204 can play in random mode among the 5 CDs, you have the Randon button, for that function
On page 17, he explains the Randon function

What type of CD is it? What type of File is it? If its a video file you may lack the required codecs. Try downloading a program called VLC to play video files. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

destapa y limpia el laser del disco sin que toques el lente directamente limpialo con alcohol puro o tambien no esta actualizado los formatos de cd en tu reproductor
