Blue Non-Convergence The blue light/bulb on my TV seems to be 4-6 inches misaligned to the right. The convergence set up page shows the different coloured cross hairs the same distance apart. Is it possible for me to realign the blue bulb or do I need to call an engineer? I'm concerned that the cost of an engineer may outweigh the cost of getting a new TV?

Hi...
These sets quite often lose their memory and can be adjusted with remote control , but , MORE often I have to change the convergence amplifiers. There are two amps with 3 channels each for the up/down left/right for each colour . You did not say if the blue was curved with this displacement , if so AMP or fusible resister . If resister open I will change the amps as a pair. You will need to clean the old heatsink grease off(it will be baked on) and apply a fresh thin coat .

Sorry not for the faint of heart or lack of soldering/desoldering
experienced .
The remote control buttons change their functions when in convergence adjust mode . Let me know If you want the overlay and instructions to adjust.

My mistubishi WS-65713 73 inch tv's colours are off. There is mostly blue and green and some colours are non existent like red and yellow. What is the problem?

Sounds like a convergence problem which is common in these sets

This model uses two of the stk394-250 convergence output devices or chips.

Both would have to be replaced.

Color convergence "whacked out"/blue shadow to right side

Your TV most likely has a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

0667c5f.pngSOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

Toshiba Theaterwide HD 50 inch convergence problem

You will have to spend money to repair it. The Convergence IC's need replacing along with checking all the bias resistors for correct value. Do not attempt to align the Blue manually as you will have a headache once the problem is repaired. A normal repair bill is in the area of $250.00 for a service center to repair.

Screen hazzy and issue with blue convergence

bad convergence would cause show to look as if it was supposed to be a 3-d movie, if a bulb was going out then people would look purple blue -green,or some other off color, so likely the green bulb is going out from the color of the people you described.

55 INCH TOSHIBA, CONVERGENCE WON'T STAY SET, WON'T ALIGN

Projection TV2_bing.gif sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung2_bing.gif, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith2_bing.gif, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D2_bing.gif
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash2_bing.gif focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

Convergence Problem and Contrast Adjustment

Have you checked all of the resistors inthe convergence circuit as well? If not, check them for the correct impedance.. Remember, you have to pull one side of the resistor out of circuit to measure it correctly.
If all of the resistors are good, then you have to do a coarse convergence adjustment on the set through the service menu.. if you need the service manual for the convergence directions, I have one uploaded in the technicians corner of techlore.com
