I just purchased an older Kodak slide projector with a carousel on top. Everything works fine but the carousel won't advance. When you click the next button, the plastic arm that should advance the carousel will only move a little and not the full range to move the carousel to the next slide.

By the sounds of your description, your projector needs an adjustment to the slide change mechanism. This is best done by a factory-trained dealer, who has the service manual. Sorry I can't be of more help. Happy New Year!

Chances are what you need is a new cycle solenoid LINK. They can be purchased from: www.micro-tools.com They should have instructions to help you install the new part, as well. Good Luck!!

Kodak 850 Carousel Projector tray won't advance

The Carousel 850 is 40-45 years old. The symptoms you describe indicate the timing is off. Timing is an "adjust & test"..... try a SMALL adjustment and then test it.... adjust again & test again. Repeat until you get smooth tray action. See the attached illustration:

Kodak 600 projector has not advance button

You're correct!! The Kodak Carousel 600 does not have an ADVANCE button. To advance the tray you LIGHTLY depress the SELECT bar on the edge of the projector. There is no reverse capability, other than holding the SELECT bar down fully and rotating the tray by hand. Enjoy your projector!! Jim

Will slides back from 1960 work in a Kodak Carousel Slide Projector?

As long as the slide film is in 2"x2" mounts, yes! I would advise you to use an 80-slide tray as opposed to a 140-slide tray. The individual slide compartments in an 80-slide tray are wider, making it more forgiving to older, possibly warped slides. 80-slide trays can still be purchased from: www.vinevalleyimaging.com. Good Luck! Jim

The lever that drops the slides gets stuck in the 'up' position when the carousel is on the projector but it works fine when there is no carousel attached. When it gets stuck you have to take the carousel...

If you are using a 140 tray with older slides, that's very logical! Over time, slides develop a "side-to-side curve". Because the Carousel 140 tray stretches the design limits of the projector to be able to accurately return the slide to the tray, the slightest bend or "dog-ear"(the fraying of the corner of the slide) will cause exactly the problem you're having. If you have a Kodak 80-Slide tray, try it. Chances are that it will work fine. If it does work fine, then you have 2 options: 1. Move all your slides into Carousel 80 Trays.
2. Have your slides re-mounted (that is, have the paper mounts replaced).
I hope this helps !!

Everything works except for ther forward and backward rotation mechanism. When these buttons are pressed there is a buzzing sound perhap indication a motor problem?

This is a very common problem with these old Kodak projectors and is caused by a small part called the solenoid link that can be purchased separately or as part of this kit: https://www.micro-tools.com/store/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=KODAK-KIT

There is also a guy on eBay, "atomk", who sells kits with very clear instructions on how to repair this problem yourself. Search for "Kodak Carousel Projector ADVANCE Repair Kit".

Good luck!
