Hotpoint VBXR1090 Washer

My washer sometimes won't Aggitate, a couple nights ago, it quit.
I pulled off the front cover, felt the motor, it was pretty hot.
I replaced the stabilizer cords on each side yesterday. One was broken.
When I let it cool, it started working. Does the motor have a load relay on
it that when it gets hot, it stops ??
Sometimes it won't aggitate on a small load neither.

It's not that old, I replaced the Rubber Shock Straps, one was broke. Releved it and it's not had one problem.

How do i tighten the drum weights on my hotpoint

Remove rear cover, and you will see the concrete weight at the bottom, sometimes the securing nuts work loose, or break off.
There is also a concete weight in the top of the washer as well,so check this as well

Washer aggitate for 20 seconds then stops, starts

This could be your control switch. Remove the front cover at the top that has the dials on. Check main switch unit, it probably needs to be rebuilt, about $35 or installed new.

Washer will not spin. Does everything else.

If it aggitates, then the tranny and motor coupling is ok. the drive assembly is bad. nintey perent of the no spin problems is motor coupling problem. But since yours will aggitate, then the coupling is fine.

Working but making noise when spinning.

  • Hi,
  • Try these:
  1. Balance the load
  2. Level the machine
  3. Inspect the water pump for a blockage
  4. Inspect the coupling
  5. Inspect the transmission
  6. Adjust the drive belt tension
  7. Check the motor bearings
  8. Check the drum brakes
please rate my suggestion....

Aggitator won't work and won't spin/ drains ok

Coupling is bad.
There is a coupling between the motor and the transmission. When this part breaks then it will pump the water out but won't spin or aggitate.
