This means a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should be replaced. I'm guessing this unit is an oven only. Is it new or have you ahd it for a while? New ovens often smell for a little while. Probably the best thing to do is to remove the oven from its cavity and sit it on a stool or the floor. Remove the outer casing from the rear and the top. This should give you a pretty good look inside. If it's a major problem you should spot it straight away. Good luck.

wire brush the oven pilot light orifix flame may be lessened due to carbon buildup then when oven lights its convextion pulls the pilot flame away from thermal coupling with shuts off gas (in case wind blows it out, it will STOP the GAS FLOWING. if the pilot full size (near 3/4 inch tall) then just try to position the thermal coupling nearer the flame (not right on it)

I turned off the power to the oven at the breaker box and left it off for several days. I restored the power this afternoon and there have been no more beeps. Spells and incantations may have played a part as well.

Is this a gas unit? There maybe a problem with the burner ignitor, it looks like a glow bar, if it is on it's way out, you will start to get intermittent operation, it should draw at least 3.2 amps, and is located right next to the bake burner itself, if this is an electric oven then there are a multitude of problems that may exist

This just happened to me. I have whirlpool double oven accubake. The display went blank and i had to turn the breaker off. I left it off for several hours. When I turned the breaker back on my oven display read "Loc" in big letters to the right of the time. I held the start button down for 5 secs. The display went away and the oven started to work as if nothing had happened. I hope that is stays that way.

it sounds like the thermal cut out is broken can be replaced quiet easy need to disconnect oven from mains remove outer cover and has four wires two blue two white all with spade connectors can be bought from e spares on the web
