Not printing extreme right side of page

New 3010cn printer which worked fine for a while. Supplied toner cartridges ran out almost immediately, replaced cyan and yellow with generic, not Dell, cartridges. Now pages won't print on extreme right of page, colour fades out. Did not replace black and magenta, but these colours don't print either. Not sure if problem happened at exactly same time as replacing cartridges.
have tried taking all cartridges out and putting back in, no luck. Have checked out margin settings, page settings etc, all are restored to default, or as should be, no luck.

I have the same problem. There is a half inch band about an inch from the right margin that doesn't print. It extends the entire length of the page on every page. Text and/or graphics print from the left margin across the page until this point one inch from the right margin, then there is the 1/2 inch blank area, then the text or graphics resume until the edge of the page. The printer is essentially useless because of this. I've replaced all the toner cartridges AND the imaging drum with no improvement.

    same issue

  • chrissyboi May 15, 2008

I have had the same issues with this printer at a client location. I am going to request help from dell to see if I can come up with a solution and will post if I find any resolution.

However, besides replacing the drum, has anyone else come to a conclusion as to what may be causing this problem? Maybe a problem with the laser writing on the drum? But why would this cause this issue down the whole page?
My conclusion could be that the glass is dirty with toner, as my issue started happening after there was a toner spill inside the unit. I will attempt cleaning to see if that helps/eliminates the problem.

Yes, this seems to work. But you're right, you have to do it often. I've discovered if I don't use the printer for a day or two or three, then my regular routine must be to turn it on, open the front cover, pull out the blue lever, move the pad in and out about five times, close the cover, and THEN print. It's not that big a deal, but you'd expect better from Dell. Personally, I think they should get out of the printer business and stick with laptops, desktops, and servers. They are hurting their reputation selling these shoddy color lasers.

I have the 1522 printer. The toner ran out and I refilled using Chinese toner fron Deal Extreme. Black toner leaked out the right hand side of the toner cartridge messing up printing. I tried refilling...

I would not advise you to refill a toner cartridge becausethe toner powder is very fine and you do not want to breath in this tonerpowder. You may be able to print a few more pages by removing thetoner cartridge and shaking the toner cartridge in a horizontal position a fewtimes and then placing it back into the printer. This will give you an opportunity to print a few more pages and giveyou time to purchase a new toner cartridge for your printer. A cheaperalternative is to purchase a re-manufactured toner cartridge for your modelprinter. A re-manufactured printer cartridge also replaces worn partsas well as refilling with toner powder.

Dell 3010cn printer, Printing on right side ends of the page is faded.

There could be dust/ Toner Dust accumulated on the mirrors and lenses inside the printer, which partially blocks laser beams and requires cleaning/ servicing by a professional.

Hope this helps! Dont forget to appreciate the solution!!

The toner tray will not pull out from the machine

Replacing the Toner Cartridge
The MFC can print up to 6,000 pages using a high yield toner cartridge. When
the toner cartridge is running low, the LCD shows TONER LOW. The MFC is
supplied with a standard toner cartridge that must be replaced after
approximately 3,000 pages. Actual page count will vary depending on your
average document type (i.e., standard letter, detailed graphics).
Discard the used toner cartridge according to local regulations. If you are not
sure of them, your local Sanitation Department. Be sure to seal the toner
cartridge tightly so toner powder does not spill out of the cartridge. When
discarding used toner cartridges, keep them separate from domestic garbage.
We recommend that you clean the MFC when you replace the toner cartridge.
1 Open the front cover and pull out the drum unit.
Place the drum unit on a drop cloth or large piece of disposable paper to avoid
spilling and scattering the toner.
2 Hold down the lock lever on the right and pull the toner cartridge out of the drum
unit assembly.
Caution
Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes,
immediately wipe it off or wash it with cold water.
3 Unpack the new toner cartridge. Place the used toner cartridge into the
aluminum bag and discard it according to local regulations.
Wait to unpack the toner cartridge until immediately before you install it in the
MFC. If a toner cartridge is left unpacked for a long period of time, the toner life
is shortened.
You can use only a genuine Brother toner cartridge (TN-430 or TN-460), which
is specially formulated to ensure top print quality. Using another brand of toner
cartridge may void your MFC’s warranty. Warranty coverage does not apply to
problems caused by the use of 3rd party Toner, 3rd party Toner Cartridge or 3rd
party Drum unit.
4 Gently rock the toner cartidge from side
to side five or six times to distribute the
toner evenly inside the cartridge.
5 Remove the protective cover.
6 Insert the new toner cartridge in the
drum unit until it clicks into place.
7 Clean the primary corona
wire inside the drum unit by
gently sliding the blue tab
from right to left several
times. Return the blue tab to
the Home position ( )
before reinstalling the drum
unit assembly.
Reinstall the drum unit and close the
front cover.
Replacing the Drum Unit
The MFC uses a drum unit to create print images on paper. If the LCD shows
CHANGE DRUM SOON, the drum unit is near the end of its life and it is time
to purchase a new one.
Even if the LCD shows CHANGE DRUM SOON, you may be able to continue
printing without having to replace the drum unit for a while. However, if there
is a noticeable deterioration in the output print quality (even before CHANGE
DRUM SOON appears), then the drum unit should be replaced. You should
clean the MFC when you replace the drum unit. (See page 21-18.)
Caution
When removing the drum unit, handle it carefully because it contains toner. If
toner scatters and your hands or clothes get dirty, immediately wipe or wash
with cold water.
WARNING
Just after you have used the MFC, some
internal parts of the MFC are extremely
HOT! So please be careful.
The drum unit is a consumable item, and it is necessary to replace it periodically.
There are many factors that determine the actual drum life, such as temperature,
humidity, type of paper and how much toner you use for the number of pages per print
job. The estimated drum life is up to 20,000 pages. The actual number of pages your
drum will print may be significantly less than these estimates. Because we have no
control over the many factors that determine the actual drum life, we cannot
guarantee a minimum number of pages that will be printed by your drum.

Streaks & Smears after changing toner cartridge.

Remove all of your toners and clean them off. Replace each one and make sure they are well setted in the unit before going to the next one. Make sure the carosel turns smoothly and nothing is hanging up on the sides. Reboot the whole printer and let it settle for 5 mins before printing. toners come lose sometimes when you turn carosel around. Hope this helps you these printers are a ***** to deal with ,but when they are right there great.

How do i manually rotate cartridge carosel

You don't want to rotate the toner cartridges, you need to get a new Drum Cartridge assembly.
When you get that, it will have detailed directions, but you'll end up opening the top of the printer and pulling the drum straight up.

This is a different component than a toner cartridge. The toner carts are the supply of new toner. The drum cart collects excess toner during the printing process, and when it's full you need to get a new (empty) one.

If you connect to your printer's web interface it will have a link for "order supplies" that will take you right to the dell.com page for it.
Post a comment back if you need me to get the URL, and I'll grab it from my printer when I get home tonight.

My DELL 3010CN is printing a thick black line on the right hand margin on all pages printed.

Often Toner sticks to fuser. When the fuser heats the toner comes off onto the paper. Should reduce over time unless toner is spilling onto the fuser in the same place.

Change fuser and toner

New toner prints very light. No setting changes on printer.

I had a similar problem, it turned out to be a cheap toner cartridge. Replaced it with an HP cartridge and have had any problem since.

Print faded after replacing black cartridge Brother 240C

The print heads don't appreciate being out of ink so the Brother printer has sensors to prevent that but the tape defeated that prevention. Maybe more cleanings or maybe a cartridge with printhead cleaning solution will help. Otherwise, I fear a new printer.
