No power I spilled some water on my Toshiba Portege and now I can't turn it on.  When I put the battery in or connect it to power there is a blinking amber light on the first light on the row of lights.  I think it's the power light.

First off... did the water spill on the keyboard or did it go underneath the bottom case? I've heard of people drying out their batteries, but usually it's very rare that they would work in serious cases. If it spilled on the keyboard and was a susbstantial amount of liquid, I think you might have damaged your systemboard.

Any hope you may have left other than an expensive repair, is to remove the battery and leave the unit in an airing cupboard for a week and pray. Then replace the battery and try again. No change - then nothing lost. I know it's basic, and best done as soon as the damage was done, but has worked for me in similar circumstances. Don't be tempted to use a warm oven.

My Toshiba Portege M200 just stopped charging and wont even turn on? Is this the battery? Or what? The charger will be plugged in the wall and plugged in the laptop but nothing?

Try removing the battery and see if it will boot without it
Then check the caharger, charging light should be green and steady on the charger itself
If it is flickering, it meand power is not making a circuit, test charger jack with a DC volt multimeter with one probe to the outer side (earth) and one on the inner (positive). If this is ok, check the charging socket is not loose (if it is, will need replacing).

After that, suspect the power strip or charging / powerboard is dead on the motherboard

My m400 wont start at all, just an orange light blinks at the power light

have you had any power surges lately?
Try taking the battery out of the laptop and starting just on power.
if this doesnt help then take battery and power and leave laptop for few hours then try again on only power or battery.

My Portege M400 will not turn on with the battery installed. It will work if you remove the battery and use the power supply. The power light only blinks yellow while the battery is installed. I have tried...

You look very much the unlucky owner of a busted battery.

I'm afraid the battery will have to be replaced. Meanwhile, do not use it with the power supply; not only it will do no good, as you already determined, but it might damage the power supply itself.
