Canon imagePROGRAF W6200

How do you reset the "change Maint cart" message on a Canon W6200. The MC 01 cart or waste ink tank isn't even close to full, I've already changed dirty carts, so I know what a full one looks like. This cart is almost new.

    Yep it says "Almost Full" but it's an almost new one. at about $50 more or less per cart and $65.00 per ink tank they could have made that part a little more user friendly.

    Don't get me wrong the ink is great I wouldn't use anything else. And I have. The Canon product works.

    I live way off the beaten path. The service company Canon sent me to was charging $1000.00 (no miss print, thats one thousand dollars) "call out fee" + $250.00 per hr + parts. After that bit of news, I'm re-thinking my wide format options.

To reset the 'MT CARTRIDGE FULL SOON' error.
Enter Service mode Hold down the paper source and online button at the same time, hit the power button once.Continue to hold down the paper and online buttons until you see the printer name "Canon W6200" on the printers LCD display, then release the two buttons.The printer will initialize & enter service mode.
In service mode, scroll sideways until you see the 'Initialize' menu, scroll down to 'W-ink', and press enter. At this point I did something (scroll sideways and hit enter I think) and it came up with 'New W-ink Cart' Hit Enter to get '=New W-ink Cart' and Online to Accept. I powered down and back up, error all clear.

I have a w6200 & the solution is to buy a new Maitenance cartridge and replace the old one. The access panel to the cartridge is located on the front bottom of the printer below were the finished prints come out of the printer.I don't know of any way to reset the sensor that says you need a new maitenance cartridge. I have just always bought a new one, but let me know if there is a way to reset so the old one can be used. I agree it is not close to being full & it's just a way for Canon to get more money after you buy their printers!

Seems like the nice folks at Canon actually call this a "consumable" item and want you to replace it. From what I read I think the message won't go away until the cart is replaced. Were you getting a message that it was almost full prior to this message? (Just curious...)

I own a canon w8200 pigment large format printer. I replaced two cartridges, Magenta and Yellow. The printer did a nozzle check that seemed to take too long. I then received a 'waste ink tank full'...

<Remedy>
1.Waste ink absorber
Use SERVICE MODE>COUNTER>PRINTER>W-INK to check the waste ink
absorber. Replace if the waste ink level is near the limit (14400).
After replacing the tank, perform SERVICE MODE>INITIALIZE>W-INK.

Canon W6400 error 'Check MT Cart' E02816

One of the engineers at Velmex helped me with this one. It turns out that the Maintenance Cartridge has a faulty chip on it.
Unfortunately, I was advised to purchase the cartridge by TCS CAD and Graphics last May when I also purchased a full set of inks. They said it would be best to have it in hand ready for when it ran out. As it is now over 12 months since purchase, they say the warranty has run out (even though its in the box still unused) and will not refund my money. Not at all happy about this.
