Installation of Apolo P-1200 on windows vista

Hi,

The Mustek Plug-n-Scan 1200 UB Plus is a legacy to Windows Vista and 7. The driver's are limited to what the manufacturer's website can provide. Microsoft also tells us that it is not compatible with Windows Vista or 7. You may check out Mustek's website. It can only work for the following Windows versions:



It's either you (1)upgrade for a new scanner, (2)downgrade Windows version of your computer, or (3)use the scanner with a computer with Windows XP in it.

I've just installed a Mustek 1200 CU scanner on Vista.

I used the XP driver from the Mustek website.

You have to temporarily edit the registry to make the installer think you have XP

In regedit, go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Cu rrent Version
Find the "product name" key. Carefully record what it says before you start. (eg paste it into a document somewhere).

Then change it to make it read: Microsoft Windows XP

Then run the Mustek XP installer, and change the registry key back to saying Vista.

The scanner works fine in Photoshop, for example, but the Vista scanning wizard doesn't detect the scanner. Don't think it uses TWAIN?

The driver for this printer comes with Windows 7. Use the "Add a Printer" wizard from Win 7 to install. After that, it should print fine.

The driver still might work under Vista. Download the latest one at this location - http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=6929290000&pi=platform_scannerdiamond1200plus - and install.

According to the manufacturer this product is not compatible with Windows Vista. There are no drivers available for this reason. Sorry.

I have a Mustek Plug-n-Scan 1200 UB Scanner. I can't still install it under Windows Vista 64 bit.

DELETE! windows Vista, then install windows XP and avoid A LOT of problems including all driver and devices incompatibilities with Vista and a SLOOOOWWW computer (Because of Vista).

Install whichever operating system you are running for this.

Uninstall the printer from the system (Control Panel > Printers, right click the printer and remove it). Then go to lexmark's website to download the most updated drivers.

Lexmark List of Vista Drivers

The 1200 series is the second on the list.

Don't plug the printer in until the installer asks you to.

To install just driver try from DEVICE MENAGER do not install driver from setup!!!
