Yes, your Steam VAc will work on tile floors. You'll want to remove the rotating brushes and install the Bare Floor Tool attachment - Hoover part number 48417003
The brush system on this model has a poor engineering design in that the brushes are running off an air turbine, which uses a steel bushing to spin the turbine which gets rusty from the moisture when the machine is being used. No long term solver. I would replace the machine with a Dirt Devil Platinum Force model
If you are handy with a screwdriver undo the casing to access the roller. Once open usually about 4-5 screws you will see that the drivebelt ( rubber band ) has broken. This is the piece you need to replace. Usually most electrical store selling cleaners have these. Take the piece along or get the part number from the manual and replace it yourself. Cheaper than having a tech do it at $90 an hr plus the $5 part
There is a plastic shaft on the back of the block brush (spin
scrubbers),
these wear out or break. You may need to replace the block brush. Or
if the shaft is not broken it could also be the Turbine Gear. This is
what the block brush shaft goes into. You can get access to it by
taking off the hood.
You can find the parts and a schematic below follow the link. Please
