Re: my wii blew a fuse and i want to know what to look...
Hello the fuse inside is made of glass if you open the wii up you should see the power supply the fuse might have a cover over it, if the fuse is black it's blown, if you put a nother 1 in and blows again the then you have a dead short somewhare make sure the power off. good luck.

They may have ran it too hard and blew the outputs and thus blew the main fuse. You will have to check to see if the main fuse is blown...It should be located around the ac cord...sometimes it is built into the ac receptacle where the cord plugs in...other times it is inside the unit and requires dis-assembly which should be taken to a qualified technician......unless you know what you are doing...and do not plug the unit in while you are looking for the fuse or taking the unit apart. If you do not know anything about electronics then DO NOT touch it...get a qualified techician to take a look.
Hi, check the remainder of the fuse's chances are you have blown more than one fuse, if they are all ok then you may have blown one of the main fuse's which are located in a fuse box in the engine compartment.
The outlet that the unit plugs
into... Is it 'hot'? Plug in a known working Table
Lamp. If you have power, the problem is the unit.
Where the cord goes into the unit, locate the Power
Supply. Carefully check for any cracked, blackened,
or broken components. My educated guess is that
a small fuse blew, as did the Metal Oxide Varristor,
which is either a large blue or red disc shaped component
near the power transformer. If the fuse is blown black
inside the glass, this indicates a short, and would require
an Ohm Meter to locate it. If the fuse is blown so that
the element inside just melted open inside the glass,
this indicates an overloaded condition, and would require
that the fuse be replaced with a rating 1/4 amp greater
than the original fuse. Why? because most fuses are
under rated to insure that they will need service to keep
people like me from starving! Trust me on this one.
HI. the power supply board has failed. There is a fuse(3amps) inside
the power supply unit. you will need to remove the cover from the power
supply to access this fuse. once inside the power supply, inspect the
fuse. if it is truly blown, replace it. if the fuse is not blown, this
will confirm a failed power supply unit. it should be replaced in this
a fuse is a small glass tube about 3/4" to 1". it is located near the end of the power cord inside the tv. it is located in the power board supply circuit.
there are several reason why fuse blew up.
1. sudden surge current/voltage in your area
2. shorted in either power supply or horizontal deflection circuits.
when replacing fuse, be sure to change it with the same value. but if after replacement has been done and the fuse blew again, there is a short in the circuit as stated in reason no. 2.
refer to a qualified service technician if you are not inclined with this job. good luck!
