Scart can only support 1x video signal and 1x L and 1x R in one direction
if you have a scart cable with more than 3 cinch connectors then you have one for two way, but you want to send 5 audio and 1 video channel one way from sky box to your receiver.

looking at the spec, your receiver does support a digital coaxial connection ( cinch orange) and a digital fibre connection
it also supports composite 5.1 analogue connection which is where are most likely already connected.
it does not seem to be a HDMI device.
if your sky box also has digital coax or fibre I recommend using one of these
alteratively if you wish to use analogue input on your receiver then ensure your topbox has corresponding 5.1 cinch connectors.
usually labelled (center, front, surround and possible also subwoofer)

if your receiver can generate 5.1 from 2.0 stereo (dolby pro-logic II) then ensure this setting is selected on your receiver.

not knowing what your sky box details are I can not say what is the best option. also check that your sky box is sending 5.1 signal out as some programmes may only be being sent in stereo so prologic will have to be activated to generate 5.1 from stereo.

I cant get dvd recorder to record ext 2

Firstly, is the scart lead plugged in fully? Does it get the sound or nothing?
Is the recorder sitched to the correct input? It may be trying to pull a signal from the TV which may not be passing through the picture from the sky box.
Also, is the scart lead fully wired? Some only work one way so try spinning it round between the recorder and sky box.

New toshiba tv connect to sky plus box and perfect picture but no sound

Hi,

The first thing to do is check the connections between the Sky box and the TV. If you are using a SCART cable, it's possible that one of the pins in the SCART plugs has bent or become detached from the wire inside. If you have another SCART cable from a VCR or DVD player, try switching them over.

If this doesn't work, or if you are using another connection method between the Sky box and the TV, please post back and I will try to assist you further.

BElectric

Hissing and Humming when trying to use the speakers for the tv

The sony manual tells you how to connect to a TV however most of us now watch TV connected to a SKY box. The Scart lead needs to be connected to the Sky box for the sound to work correctly. Ignore the Manual and connect the Scart lead from the DVD Unit directly into you're sky box. It works fine.

Popping noise through speaker when changing channel on sky hd

What make is your HD Box and TV? Assume you are connecting direct to your TV using HDMI, and not though an amp? If you do have an amp, you'll need an optical from HD box to amp to get DD 5.1, and connect your HD box to TV with the HDMI. Have you disconnected any scart connections from the HD box to TV - no longer required unless you really want to watch SD over the scart? Check that the Audio Output in the Sound settings for you HD box is set to Stereo.
Does your TV have individual audio and picture settings for the input source - perhaps you need to tweak these for the HDMI input being used. Do you have another HDMI cable you can use to eliminate a possible dud?

Wharfedale DVD recorder, no sound. Scart lead connected to Sky Box & scart connection to TV. Picture OK & can play DVD's or record to HD but no sound.

HI if you mean scart connectors on rear of DVD recorder, try swapping scart inputs on DVD recorder and if no joys then on set top box. (some units have 1 input designated for TV and the other for Set top box input)

Hi i have a krf-v5030d and i am having trouble woking out how to connect it to my panasonic 37'' plasma th37px70b and my sky plus box can you help me please .thanks john

Hi John,

I have the same amplifier, a Sky + HD box, an LCD TV an surround speakers. We wont go into the Wii, PS3 and PC also hooked up. Essentially the best way to go (whatever you connect up) is to split the video and audio signals.

Sky: The Sky box has an audio outputs (left and right channel) found at the back of the box. You get some twin audio cables, plug into the back of the Sky box and the other end into the Kenwood Amp (for example we use Video 1). This means that the sound from Sky can be found on Video 1 on the Amp.

You take the video signal (picture) from Sky using a SCART cable and put into the back of your panasonic TV. This does mean that you can watch a picture without the sound and listen without a picture. The Amp remote controls the sound, the Sky / TV remote controls the picture.

You may need to tinker with some settings on the Amp, for example on the front of the Amp you will find a source button, toggle through the 3 or 4 options to give you the right sound. But essentially that should be it. The same process is used for any other things you want to add, like a DVD player, a games console and so on.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Mohammed

No picture on TV through Sky, Home Cinema is on but have sound.

do have sound and picture at same time you will need a fibre optical cable, you connect that from your cinema system to your tv. then you need to set your cinema system to digital input or fibre optic or check by pressing aux on your remote and see which is the right one. i am not familier with panasonic as i have samasung.

Most likley your scart cable is the culprit, check whether the scart cable is the AV I/O type. And also better check the audio settings of the DVD player. Hope u hook up the speakers correctly. Cheers, Rifaa
