Question about Dell Latitude C640 Notebook
My laptop recently started acting strangely in the midst of typing. All of a sudden, it would not type but would pull down a macro (?) from the toolbar every time I typed a letter. I eventually discovered it was the period key. If I type on it hard, it causes the screen to shift momentarily and then the keys don't work and the macros start appearing with each keystroke. I have to pound on the period key to get it to resume working, then I must be careful how hard I type the period key. I assume it is sticking or something. Is this easy to fix or do I need a whole new laptop? Thanks for any advice. My e-mail is [email protected]. Thanks.
May I suggest that you get an regular computer keyboard, and try it. There should be a plug in for it on your lappy. If not, you can pick up a USB one for $10. See if that solves the problem, and is a quick fix.
If that solves the issue, try getting a can of compressed air, with the little nozzle tube, and blow out around the key. The only part of the problem that really bothers me is the maco menu droping down on thier own. Either way, you can have the keyboard replaces a lot cheaper than getting a new laptop, although, if you are geekitized, :D, could be a good excuse to get the latest and greatest!

The keyboard can be replaced. Ebay is a great place to get one.
Here is the manual. It will show you how to change it.
