LOC message Our 2.5 year old kenmore tumble action washer model 417 lets us select the cycle and change the options, but when we press start (or cance) we get the ERR message and then LOC flashes on the screen and then it will go back to indicating the length of the cycle.

I have never ever seen a 'DO' code. All washing machine codes are E and 2 numbers, except for 'LOC' for 'Lock'..

This means that the child lock (control lock) feature is active. There will be a button (or pair of buttons) depending on the model that you need to press and hold to toggle off the feature. If it is a single button, there will be a tiny padlock icon on the button. If you need to press and hold two buttons, the padlock symbol will be in a line indicating both buttons.

A likely combination is the Select and Option buttons. These should be held together for 10+ seconds. (This is the combination for some Affinity washers.)

If this doesn't work and you can't see a lock icon, please add a comment with the model number of your washer. I'll be glad to check what the combination is for your washer. The model number is usually on a plaque on the rim of the door for front loading washers or at the back at the top of the drum for a top loading washer.

Is the message "LOL" or "LOC"? I suspect the child lock "LOC" has been activated. To toggle this off, press and hold Options and Select for 10+ seconds. This feature prevents someone from accidently starting or changing a cycle selection.

There is a small padlock icon in the middle of lines linking the two buttons that let you toggle the child lock on and off.

Mine was the door lock switch, $80. and about 20 mins. working like a champ.

You press the two buttons on either side of the lock icon for about 15 seconds and it clears it.

Washer is approximately 3 years old. Will not drain or spin. When it tries to spin, clicking noise heard inside of unit. Would a clog insie the lines disable the spin cycle ?

This sounds like a faulty micro switch on the door catch. Try pressing inwards on the door glass at the catch area whilst you press start and hold it oressed for a few seconds until it either starts or displays the error again, if the error shows it may require a new switch, the switch can be tested by bypassing it and joining the two wires together that plug onto the switch. The switch can be accesses by removing the dor seal from the outer most edge.
