Hello everyone I have been trying to repair my TV for a while with no luck. After replacing the FL 231 fuse because of the convergence issue, when I turn the TV on it the green LED lights up, and goes off, lights up, and goes off etc. If I hold down the power button after a while it blinks 9 times consecutively. Can someone please tell me what this means, or better yet how to fix it?

Ck 3 capacitors on deflection board cp150 2200uf 16v use 25v if it is puffed up on top it is Bad other 2 are 220uf 35v cp114 cp120 resolder all pinns on FBT flyback transfomer.

Ok ,these sets had alot of problems with them on the SSB board theirs 5 more fuses just like FL231, 2 on the right side of tuner CK them it could also be your FBT flyback transfomer on the deflection board Heres another thing if one yoke is shorted set will not come on and you have to replace all 3 yokes if this happens they are on Necks of Tubes another thing when you replaced FL231 the 2 Ribbons that connect deflection board to the SSB board make sure they are pluged in good if the second Ribbon is not pluged in good set will not come on! Heres another thing that you may want to do is to replace the deflection board Call UED on Prices for rebuilt Deflection board 1-800-648-6657 OK heres another thing CK contact switches on front panel board clean all of them with contact cleaner on/off ch- ch+ vol- vol+ menu button You can try this with set pluged in Press and Hold at same time vol- and ch- see if set will come on doing this, this is how you can Enter service Mode. This RCA DLP tv model have auto convergence at it menu,lost it from the menu or can't get to converge,this tv have a convergence fuse mean the convergence fuse FL(231) near the FBT-flyback tranformer is dead.U have a soldering iron,a roll of desodering braid or a desoldering pump and a roll of solders,also can do basic soldering.Try website like Ebay.com to buy a convergence fuse(FL231) to do the replacement.
FL231. FUSE.... The RCA ITC222 chasis has a common problem. and it not all that difficult to repair. Does your rca projection tv have read blue and green shadows? Does it have bowing in affect on the top and bottom of picture? when you turn it on does some thin red green and blue line bow in from the top then go away. The main question to determine if you have the fl231 fuse problem is if you go into customer menu then setup do you have the "CONVERGENCE' option. If you do not. then i suspect you have this problem. In the manufactering of these sets Lead free solder is used. now there is great debate over the use of lead free. connection tend to be more brittle. cracks develop around the solder connections of the high voltage flyback transformer. this very small crack set up oscillations in the cuicit with a 400 milliamp fuse. THis fuse cant take it. When this fuse blows the processor then does not know its a projection tv with three projection tubes. it thinks its a crt tube tv. and crt tube tv dont need "convergence" so it removes the convergence from the set.
TO REPAIR... 1. Warning. this set can generate leathal dangerous voltages even unplug do not attempt if you have no experence with electronics. 2. Remove the back. there a number of torx 20 screws. 3. what you will see is a number of circit boards There will be one on the right and one on the left. the one on the right is the small signal board. the one on the left is called the power deflection board. it has a large black part with a big red or black wire coming from the top, this is the flyback.Next to the flyback on the right of it there will be three small rectangular componets tan or brown in color. these are fuses. the one in the middle is the fl231 fuse. 4. getting to this fuse can be difficult. these two cuicit boards sit on a tray that is removable. to remove this tray it is pulled out and up. BUt watch the wires.loosen the wire tyes. 5 when you get the tray up the bottom side of the board can be accessed you will now have to unsolder that fuse. one side of this fuse is under a plastic part of the tray. i have found the easest way is to cut away the plastic to get to it. if you dont want to do this you will have to remove the board. only remove half of the plastic brace 6. REPLACE FUSE RCA PART 259213 7 RESOLDER FLYBACK CONNECTIONS simply heat up and add a little solder 8 reassemble set. make sure you examine the set for loose connections. 9 and remember "BE Careful'

That's a common problem with that model the auto convergence option would disappear from the setup menu. But it's a very easy and inexpensive repair that you can do yourself. You can get the RCA repair kit called the ITC 222 and ITC 222 A chassis convergence option missing repair kit. The kit contains the FL 231, DL 231, CL 030 and also has repair instructions on CD. Is $25 from www.tvrepairworld.com listed under their RCA repair kit category.
Thats the classisc sign that the CP150, CP114 and CP120 capacitors need replacement. You can get the repair kit called CP150, CP120 and CP114 at www.tvrepairworld.com which contains the capacitors and the CD with step by step instructions on how to do the repair.
there are 3 fuses by the flyback,check them.also look for bad connections under flyback-also check for a bad connection on the crytical safety cap.if all else fails deflection board part number is 272074,NTA thru rca but tristate module or pts electronics can repair it for you.
Hello The common FL231 fuse problem that these set has can be identified by asking the question DO you have the convergence option under setup in the customer menu. If you do not then there is a 99 percent chance you have this. I have written detail repair instrucitons on this under my profile in the tips and tricks section of fixya. I use union electronics for parts but just google the part and you can find many distribitors of the fuse. should not cost no more than 5 dolars and if you can solder the repair shouldnt take more than an hour to complete. I would try resoldering the flyback connections on the Circuit board. if the flyback was defective it would operate and you usually get 3 blinks on the LED indicator. Sounds more like a solder issue.
sounds like you have more problems than just the fuse.. did you resolder the connection when you replaced the fuse. this is what causes that to happen.. fuses blown for a reason. ussally something is shorted. that particular fuse blows because it is a very small fuse and doesent take spikes in power to well. so when a intermittant connection begins to cause ossillations it shakes that poor fuse. it however sounds like you have more than that. does the led on the front flash when it shuts down.
