Question about Bravetti KC281HB 8-Quart Slow Cooker

Poor fitting lid

I got one of these for Christmas, looks great, good capacity but having tried a few of the recipes in the manual they were no where near done in the time they said. The reason I think it is not getting up to temperature is that even when the lid is on there is a 1/2 inch gap either side. The manual says not to frequently lift the lid during cooking but if the lid isn't snug what can you do?

    I also have the Bravetti 8-Quart Slow Cooker. Mine does the same... it does not reach full heat capacity EVER. Even when set at High due to the large gap between the lid and the pot too much warmth leaks out. It will continually blink at Low or Medium heat level showing it never reaches High. Yes, there is supposed to be a small gap between the lid and the pot but the Bravetti's gap is just way too big. The response you have given does not solve the problem, instead you have just given the previous complainee a recipe. I would like to know if there is an actual solution to this problem or shall I just accept a loss and buy a better working product?

    I have the same problem as well.

    I had assumed I had been setting it incorrectly until attempting to do a large dinner. I borrowed a friend's oval Bravetti and had the 2 running side by side. My cooker was noticeably different in temperature after only 2 hours. After 10 hours of cooking, I had to transfer the food to the other cooker to finish it.

    This cooker was received as a gift and I do not have the original receipt so cannot return it either.

I went to Canadian Tire where my slow cooker had been purchased and spoke with a Supervisor.
Because I had no receipt, I could not get a refund. They allowed me to exchange it for another at the lowest of the sale prices for my model. After 2 more returns of the same model the following week, I have had it exchanged for a different model & style. The store I was at is checking into it with the sales rep as their stock had various issues besides the gap with the lid.

Most lids on crocks are loose fit due to pressure release that is required in most receipts... read your receipt for example BEAN SOUPS, or LENTILS and you will find that the should be tilted for proper cooking.
Cooking time in a crock is different from stove top or oven cooking... Remember the saying that "Heat cooks and fire burns" ... well, never is this more true than with your new slow cooker. So here are a few examples for you to try:
FIRST RECEIPT: take out some fresh or frozen meat your choice' dice up and onion or simply just cut the onion in 1/2 for easy removal later. I tend to season/salt>>> my pork, lamb , and chicken; however I do season/salt beef if I am only cooking it in water>>> for like tender shredded beef tacos. Anyway set your crock on high in the morning or at night before going to bed
( warning do not leave your crock unattended if you have children under 12 years of age around that might try to serve themselves when the crock is cooking)and don't except to have the children not want to investigate you savory dish>> they might and will get 2nd degree burns from a 215 degree cooking temp.
SECOND RECEIPT>>
Try a 7 or 15 Bean Soup add your smoked turkey or pork ham to the pot with seasoning/salt and an onion. set on high and go to work . When you cook home you and or your family will be delighted to find a wonderful home cooked meal waiting for your taste buds to enjoy!!!

Where can i find instructions for cooking a turkey in a bella cucina oven roaster?


Here are the settings

Turkey, fresh, 10 - 14 lb, 350° F, 15 to 17 minutes / pound

A roster is a roster... when it comes to cooking they all cook by time and temp.

Recipe didn't turn out ...


It sounds as if the temp was to high for a shorter period of time. Try cooking longer at a lower temperatur.

How long to cook in a Tower compact slo cooker (old model)


As to the the slow cooker recipes...Try going to www.goodbks.com and search for "Fix-It and Forget-It" cookbook for starters.

As to then 4 or 8 hour timing I'm assuming you don't have an owners manual for it. I would start out treating it as a 4-hour timer and adjusting the times for various dishes aas you learn the cookers "personality"
