Ice/water dispenser broke

OK. Let's see if I can describe my problem. On the ice dispenser side we noticed that was frost building up in the inside of door. After closely looking at the situation I noticed that the "flapper" was not closing properly. My husband looked even closer. We have came to the conclusion that the housing is broke. I have contacted a local part dealer and was told the housing was not available for purchase. Is this true? Can you purchase a door separate? Could we have overlooked another problem??

Most times this is caused by the dispenser door not shutting all the way. This causes moist air to be drawn in through the opening and the moisture will freeze in that area and also cause the dispenser door to have even more problems closing. Check the door and get me your model number so I can list the parts that are most likely causing this, Thanks Sea Breeze

Frost buildup inside freezer door at ice dispenser
you are still not getting a seal on that flap. It sounds as if it may be warped. THe reason the frost and ice is building up is due to the flap not sealing there isn't any other reson for your problem. Good luck on your repairs

Whirlpool Defrost pan overflow
check and see if the door to the ice chute is closing all the way, moisture can get in there and cause excessive frost build up also check the location of your defrost thermostat behind the back panel in the freezer, it should be attached to the top of the evap coil. also check your water system and be sure that there are no leaks under the refer dripping into the pan while the unit is cycling for ice fill or dispenser line.

Ice maker icing up
Sounds like you may have a couple of problems here. The frost build up could be from a bad door seal. Moist air can be drawn in and collect on the inside. As for the water temp, it sounds like the water line connected to the refrigerator could be tapped off a hot water line. It needs to be connected to a potible cold water line.

Ice dispenser frost build up - Amana refrigirator
This sounds like your ice may be melting and freezing around the chute. You may need to replace that rubber gasket on the chute. Otherwise, if you use a lot of crushed ice, that will build up badly on the chute and you can manually clean that off. I hope this helps you!

Sounds like the dispensor flap is not closing completely , pulling outside air in . Using a flashlight on the outside of the flap , look inside to see if any light is visible . If so , then the ice flap plunger and solenoid will have to be replaced . Also , excessive crushed ice can also cause frosting .

clean it again and make sure when you use it that all the ice falls out if not and its open a little it will cause it to freeze open

Ice not being produced
hi there,

check to see there is any frost building up, either on the water line or the inside of the door.

if there is no ice build-up, you may have to have the water valve (inside the icemaker) replaced.

sounds like the water coming into the icemaker is spilling over or leaking into the ice despenser bucket.... check for ice build up or plugging of water chut into ice maker
